When will the excitement and giddiness subside?

OMG!!!! I can't not believe how excited I am over these AKV points we just purchased. I am like a little kid.

I come here multiple times a day just looking for AKV discussions! I've tried telling people about it, in my glory, and they don't get it. I'll get "really? that's nice."

REALLY, THAT"S NICE???????

Why don't people "get" my excitement?

We bought yesterday & I keep reading the boards and can't stop checking my DVC account online to see if the points are there yet. I was so giddy about it & most of my friends & coworkers just looked at me with a blank stare.......

Why don't people "get" my excitement?

Ha, you sound like me! Except it was people who work for me that I was telling about my new AKV points and they kind of fake excitement for me.

LOL.....We are exactly like that too!!! We went to dinner last night with two other couples and our 21 yr old son. The only one who "got it" was our son, and he was excited too.

I would say it will wear off, in about 49 1/2 years.

I wonder if people who buy into other timeshares feel this way . . .I would guess not or at least for not as long!!

I can tell you for us it was not excitement at all! We bought a timeshare, because we toured DVC back in '97 and the price scared us away. We toured the timeshare, and made a mistake in telling him we really wanted Disney. He pulled out the BIG II book, and the sales pitch from then on was how we could trade to Disney each and every year! Well, DH and I got pulled into the fantasy, and before we knew it, they were ringing the bell.

We got home, and the two of us wandered around the house muttering, "What did we do? What did we just do? WHAT DID WE JUST DO?!"

It was scary for us. It didn't take us long to find out that the resort we bought into did not have enough trading power for Disney. I tried 5 years in a row and finally gave up and bought BCV, where we went home and danced!

Hmmm...maybe never. DH and I have turned into 6yos since buying in OCT. He is now experiencing POINTS ENVY! We are still excited, but have learned to keep it to ourselves- people who don't "get it" are such killjoys!

I would say it will wear off, in about 49 1/2 years.
