When will the Disney Money Grabbing End?

A terrorist can strike a little town in the middle of Pa., I don't know of a place with less threat. I refuse to hide my family in fear and would rather educate them. I respect your opinion and even understand it but will continue to show our family the world. I agree with above there are some places that obviously we will not go (North Korea for one)but for our family the world is meant to be discovered and we will do so.

And that is great. We all have to do what we feel comfortable doing. My original point was that many people probably feel the way I do, and that is why you find trips overseas to be relatively cheap.

As a side note one of my co-workers has a daughter who loves to go all over. She is recently back from teaching for a couple of years in South Korea. Her only instructions to her were to stay away from the boarder. Guess where she sent her a picture from?

Well it looks as if MAYBE..Just MAYBE... the winds have changed. I so hope, keeping fingers crossed. Since the news of the "leaving" of Mr Staggs I am hopeful that perhaps all the new crazy, unwanted, and unwelcome changes mentioned recently may now, NOT come to pass.
Oh please... oh please... oh please.... let us hope that the Disney team has come to its senses!!

Can't we discuss something that we consider to be an overpriced event without someone throwing the "Disney is a business" meme out to quash the discussion? This is a message board. Your comment is duly noted.

And I care about this because I own at DVC and tend to take advantage of evening EMH. If this catches on, I can see evening EMH at the MK being curtailed or eliminated. Is that a good enough reason for you?
HEAR,HEAR!!!! Last time I looked, this was a discussion board! Disney is getting WAAAAY to greedy!!!

So we are free to discuss anything, just as long as we bash Disney and can't see their side of things? Am I getting that right?
Not "bashing" Disney...so no,you are not getting it right.Just stating the facts...they ARE getting WAAAAY too greedy....That being said,We LOVED WDW...past tense, although we will probably work some overtime for one"last hurrah"...I'd like to take my family one more time before I'm priced out,or have to take a 2nd mortgage to afford it in the future.I am soooo glad we took the 10 trips we did when we did!!!!

I'm not sure I'd call them greedy but it does appear that way! We just booked a 2 week vacation in Costa Rica for less than 7 nights at WDW. I loved disney as well but my eyes have been opened. I'm also glad "I've been there done that" as our family is discovering new adventures and Disney is slowing creeping to the bottom of our list. It's kind of refreshing to see new things and introduce our girls to things beyond an amusement park which is what disney has become to us. This is not bashing them but a topic on disney pricing getting out of hand which it is....

Just came back and had a really great trip. I have no complaints exce the prices are out of bounds. They just do not reflect the value of the service. I stayed at both the grand floridian and four seasons with 4 kids. Both great but four seasons better value by far. Rooms both nice. Could see the fireworks from both.. robes scrappy at Gf great at four seasons. Food no contest. Four seasons hands down. And everything was a few bucks cheaper, much better quality and the pasta was man-made. Room was $250 cheaper at four seasons. Pool...winner four seasons. The kids would not leave. Last they have free kids camp with great facilities. The GF has the monorail. But the four seasons is close and a cab is quick. Disney's attempt to squeeze every dollar will backfire because families on every income level are going o realize that there are simply better values for your money.

Hmmmmm...my 2013 trip was fantastic and I have been having a lot of fun planning this trip. However, the prices really do have me very worried. The airfare and hotel costs are roughly the same, maybe a bit more, the park tickets are a few hundred more than they were the last time, but the food costs...oy! I budgeted about $1500 for our last trip including a dinner show and an expensive character meal. I am now looking at around $2k for the same type of meals.

Staggs wasn't the problem. It will only get worse. :(

I agree. If you compare room for room, then Disney's rooms are not that thrilling. What Disney's rooms have is location. And theme park and resort perks for their guests. And many people find a lot of value in those perks.

I just read an article today that Disney is raising prices on all their drinks. Bottled water is going up to $3, juice is going from $2.79 to $3.29, milk from $1.99 to $2.69, fountain drinks are going up .30-.40 depending on size, etc. :scared:

They have to make the change to the DDP for 2017 look like more of a "bargain" than it is :crazy2:. Can increased food prices be too far behind?

Here's my answer

2016: The Year of the Hungry Mouse! :sad2:

Disney has announced yet another upsell - Magic Kingdom After Hours.

http://www.inquisitr.com/2912667/wa...sney-after-hours-paid-event-at-magic-kingdom/

For $149 PER PERSON, you too can enjoy 3 extra hours in the MK after the park closes! Seriously. This is not an April Fools joke!

So far, the dates scheduled are:

    • April: 14, 21, 28

    • May: 5, 8, 12, 19

No special parades or entertainment are planned for those nights. Food venues will be closed. It sounds like only attractions will be open during that time period.

I wonder how this will affect evening EMH for onsite guests? And if there is no effect, is this a way for Disney to add "value" to onsite stays?

When we stop paying it...i mean I know it sounds sarcastic, but really that is what it'll take. They're going to take as much as they can unfortunately for us.

it just makes me think of getting a tour guide. If you have a group of people and want a few hours of extra magic it can be a good deal to get a plaid but if you're one person and you want to ride everything it'll probably be a good way to do it, but definitely not something realistic for a family to do. I don't think they're trying to appeal to families with that one though.

And here they've gotten you to pay more, maybe not for the EMH's, but now paying more for something that before you didn't, so they're still making extra money from you. They don't care how they make the money, just that they get as much as they can.

Now if only I could buy enough stock to cover my vacation expenses (dividend).

Never happen. will take alot of stocks. The dividend is only 1.44%. $1.49.

The unknown if Disney will take a hit (down).
