I want to book airfare for March 2007, but it is outrageous on most airlines. Does anyone know when Southwest will come out with their fares for March 2007? I called them, and they could not say. I am so disappointed that airfare is so high this far out. I am flying from O'Hare to Orlando. Thanks for any tips.

Last year, I think the schedule extended to March around Sept. 22nd.

I was looking to book at Christmas and those fares just came out last week. I called SW to see when they normally come out and the rep there said she never knows when the dates will change until she shows up for work each day. Also, don't assume that first thing in the morning won't mean that they won't change at some point that day.

We are flying down 3/30 or 3/31, but coming back 4/9. Should I risk getting the one way first then the trip back at a later date? This is the first time we will try to use SW. If it's too much of a risk, then we might go Jet Blue.

SWA posts their fares on Thursday mornings, usually the 2nd or 3rd Thursday of the month for the next block of 30 days, so I would think either 9/14 or 9/21.

This is what I did since my flight down was within the current time line but home wasn't. Great thing about this is that if you get a cheaper rate on the flight down (already happened to me) you just get a credit in your account that you can apply to your flight home! I figure it is already a win win situation for us. Price is great paying 59 for down, waiting for either a DING or for flight home to drop it's rate so I can can book that portion. :cool1:

Southwest usually comes out apprx 6 monnths before you fly date! So Keep looking in Sept!

I Was Wondering About This Ding Thing. I Have A Flight Booked To Orlando On Sw For 12/8 For 102.00 Per Person One Way (4tickets My Dh And My Dgc 4 Tickets In All. When The Dates Came Out For My Flight Home I Booked The Cheapest At Sw Which Was 150.00 Each. If A Ding Is Offered What Are My Options And Penalities To Get The Cost Reduced.
Thanks

b. (nsx) The schedule is usually extended on a Thursday morning, around 10 AM Central Time. One tipoff is when the current sale is "through the end of the schedule" rather than having a specific ending date.

Bummer you missed it but I got $59 from Buffalo on that VERY exact day! Now if the rates drop there is no penalty ... u might just end up with a credit. Here is what you do ... Click on TRAVEL CENTRE up on right hand corner ...
Then 7th link on LEFT hand side under AIR You will see change air reservation. Click on that and you can enter your conf # and card holder name ...Then it will pull up current flight info and you just change what you need to. Pretty easy actually! This is how I changed cost of flight from $94 down to $59 No penalties just the cheaper price.

BTW which flight you going on? Might be on same as us :thumbsup2

Thanks Jacqueline,
I went to the Ding site and looked it over and I am afraid that i will loose out on what I already have going down. We are on the non stop leaving out of Buffalo at 7:10 am and landing in Orlando at 10:00 am. With tax and all fees it was 102.80 each I never got a Ding so I don't think it was on that flight. On the flight coming home we are paying 150.00 each ouch. It is very important for us to have a direct flight as we have our two DGC ages 3 & 6 with us. What flight are you on? We are staying at POP our 3rd time their but my 50+ trip to WDW but never with young children. So if you see two frazled 50ish people in the airport with 2 young children say Hi.
Cindy :cool1:

:wave2: Hi Cindy. I definately agree with the point of needing a non-stop flight! The person in our crowd who needs it is my 69 yr old child/dad. He is already being a big poop about flying! Mom is panicing about the price I got... I think 59 per person one way is pretty darn good so far. I haven't booked return flight in case the price drops (right now sitting at 145)

We will be on the 7:10 flight outta Buffalo on Friday December 8th! I will be the 44 year old with two whiny sixty years old in tow! :lmao:

I'm really confused... :confused3 are the dates (schedules) for SWA that are released specific to certain itineraries? I am trying to look at dates for Jan. and they appear not to be released yet. Yet it is within the 6 mo. period that some talk of? I'm sorry, I'm so overwhelmed with vacation planning details and maybe just missing the boat. I'm really anxious to find some good fares as well. I guess I'll just keep checking back!

Slow down, take a deep breath. There now feel a bit better? Yes all the planning can get overwhelming at times. So much to worry about, and if you are like me, you worry constantly that the stuff you choose to do is just not the RIGHT thing to do ..... :confused3

SOUTHWEST : seems to be sending out their time frames in a rather bizzare fashion. At the moment you can get fares up until the 9th of JANUARY. Do what I did: as soon as you see your dates available, BOOK the flights (just one way -down) then like a hawk check, maybe even 2x per day for those prices to drop. When I booked mine, within HOURS the price dropped $40.00 At that point you can re-book at the lower price and get a credit that you can apply to your return flight. I am still waiting for either a lower price down ... or a lower price home. Once it gets to the point that you feel it is just too tense for you, book the flight home and you can use those credits you have banked making a decent return price!

So many thing so much to plan .. believe me I know I seem to be on these boards for hours at a time making sure I haven't missed the perfect restaurant, hotel or show ... But hey both of us will get some help here pixiedust:

Jacqueline, you must be looking into your crystal ball and seeing my DH tell me the same thing!
I LOVE your tip about booking for the one way and then using the credit for the return. Now, it's choices, choices...do I do it this way or take a chance with DINGS???? I'm breathing, I'm breathing!! ;)

Hi Minniebeth!
Looking at the SWA fare history that was previously posted in this thread it appears that SWA has dropped its time frame for upcoming flights to 5 months instead of 6. If the 5 month time frame holds up then I am expecting that the next round of flights for mid-Jan thru Feb should be out within the next 7-14 days. So keep watching and waiting and I'll do the same cause we are going Jan. 13-19.

BTW Jacqueline, LOVE your suggestion of only booking the trip down and waiting for the DING to use your extra funds toward the return trip. Scathingly Brilliant!

Thanks so much Anne! Other airlines had flight info. for this time, so I just assumed that SWA would too. I will be watching out.
I appreciate everyone's help here very much...thank you! :sunny:

Southwest doesn't fly out of O'hare only Midway. We live a lot closer to O'hare (we pass it going to Midway  ) but still plan on flying out of Midway because the airfare is a lot less.
