We go yearly to WDW in the end of August. We were going to skip this year but I know Star Wars is going to be opening in 2019? and is toy story land opening in 2018? When are the "new rides/lands" supposed to open? Thanks for any info.

I believe the prevailing thoughts are that TSL will open around Memorial Day 2018 and SW:GE in “late” 2019.

I've heard rumors of Star Wars land opening over a holiday weekend on both coasts. That last I heard was Memorial Day 2019 on the west coast and Labor Day 2019 on the east but I admit I am not stalking the rumors all that closely. I believe it was Len Testa and Jim Hill that shared that hypothesis but it could have changed 10 times since I heard.

Usually in the morning.....then again in the afternoon too......oh and right around the parade..............oh and don't forget about fireworks sheesh.

honestly I really do not think there is much down time anymore, but Christmas week the parks usually reach capacity by 11

Disney will start to get really crowded about 5 years ago.... You missed it. There isn't really a down time anymore, and I don't expect the opening of Star Wars Land and Toy Story land is going to have a tremendous affect on the crowds more so then they already are - maybe just the distribution of where the crowds are in the park. The order you do things may change, but the crowds won't be any better at a specific month. Off months - even those based around events - are a thing of the past.

Just curious, will park capacity go up in any of the parks with the new attractions? Are any of those expansions that will allow more than the current capacity?

DHS capacity will likely return to something similar to when Streets Of America and LMA were open. Otherwise, I wouldn’t expect any of the other park capacities changing from current.

A couple of years ago.

but really, I know I'll be (probably) staying away for at least a year when Star Wars opens.

We have gone the last week of August for the last 5 years and it wouldn't call it "really crowded" but I do know that this is probably one of the slowest times. The wait times are not bad at all but you do feel like you are an egg frying on a frying pan at times.

The last week or two of August is my favorite time to go. It is hot, but a couple years ago, Soarin' was literally a walk on one entire day. Also got free dining which was fun!

Isn't the week starting the Tuesday after labor day historically the lowest crowds? I thought I read that somewhere and it makes sense.

Late July has had lower crowds than most other times of year for the past few years.

Yes, but late August isn’t bad. Hard to go wrong with either.
