“Marsh Tacky: Now and Then” exhibition at Coastal Discovery Museum. This exhibit will trace the history these horses in South Carolina and recognize the efforts by statewide and national organizations to preserve the South Carolina State Heritage Horse. This exhibit will feature historic information about the Marsh Tacky, scientific information, and information about conservation efforts to protect it from extinction. In addition, the Coastal Discovery Museum is seeking entries for artwork to be included in the exhibit, entries must be received by September 6th to be considered for inclusion in the exhibition. Marsh Tackies’ natural beauty, the people who have historically worked with Marsh Tackies, and historic Gullah beach races– all of these themes, and others, are welcomed in entries. 3rd Annual Coastal Clean Water Festival! 5–10 p.m. at Shelter Cove Harbour. Hilton Head Preparatory School presents an evening of music, food and environmental education. The festival is free and open to the public. Beach Sweep, 9 a.m.– 12 noon at Sea Pines Beach Club. Take part in the largest one-day volunteer cleanup event of its kind in South Carolina as a volunteer with The Sea Pines Resort’s “Life’s a Clean Beach” team. Conducted annually since 1988, The Sweep takes place in conjunction with the International Coastal Cleanup, coordinated by the Ocean Conservancy.
