South Carolina Repertory Company presents “Red” by John Logan, Directed by Chip Egan. Master abstract expressionist Mark Rothko has just landed the biggest commission in the history of modern art – a series of murals for New York’s Four Seasons restaurant. In the 2 years that follow, Rothko works feverishly with his young assistant, Ken, in his studio in The Bowery. RED is a searing portrait of an artist’s ambition and vulnerability as he tries to create a definitive work for an extraordinary setting. 136 B Beach City Rd. Art League of Hilton Head Island presents “CARSCAPES”. Three artists drawn to style & speed, a fine art exhibit In the Walter Greer Gallery. Legends of the Lowcountry featuring a tribute to Johnny Mercer presented by the Rotary Club of Hilton Head Island and the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance. 6-9 p.m. at The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort, 2 Grasslawn Ave. Event includes heavy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails (cash bar), a special appearance by the Hilton Head Island Barbershoppers and the presentation of the first Hilton Head Island Hall of Fame honorees at 7 p.m. The Savannah Jazz Orchestra and the Vocal Jazz Project will perform a Johnny Mercer tribute concert. The Coastal Discovery Museum, “Shrimp Trawling Experience”. 9 a.m. until noon. This interactive cruise will take you from Hudson’s dock out into Port Royal Sound where you’ll have a chance to see how a shrimp trawler works – and find out about all the critters that can be found in its nets. November 3:
2nd Annual Bluffton International & Craft Beer Festival at The Promenade in Historic Bluffton, 2-6 p.m. Over 125 of the world’s best ales, stouts, lagers and pilsners, plus a food court featuring five area restaurants and live music from two bands. Admission to the festival area is free; however a Festival Ticket is required to sample beer. Bluffton Beer Festival Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, a Beer Festival Souvenir Sampling Glass (first 1000) and six samples are included with a festival ticket. The cost for additional 4 ounces samples vary from $1 to $3. The price of the beer samples are based on the style and gravity of the beers. 11th Annual South Carolina Bank and Trust Hilton Head Oyster Festival in Shelter Cove Community Park. Harbour Town Fall Fest, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. While The Sea Pines Resort is enjoyable year-round, the cooler fall season is ideally suited for an outdoor festival amidst the beautiful surroundings of Harbour Town. Old Time Blue Grass Concert, 2:30–5 p.m. Kick off the holiday season Hilton Head Island style with well-known local bluegrass band ‘Low Country Boil.’ Meet your friends, tap your toes, and share the fun at this free event under the Liberty Oak in Harbour Town. Joining Low Country Boil will be special guest Travis Wetzel. Bring the little ones along for a special treat as Yostie the storytelling puppeteer shares her unique brand of fun. The Sea Pines Resort is hosting this special event, which benefits the Hilton Head Island Deep Well Project.
