When & what is Jersey week?

NJ schools close during the first or second week of November and it seems as if the whole state goes to WDW. But it's nothing like summer crowds.

Jersey week is the week when our schools close for teacher conventions. This year it falls the week of November 5, our kids are out the Thur. and Friday. We have never been during that week since we like to go in Feb. to get away from the cold! I have heard different responses as to how crowded it really is. Maybe one of these yars we will go down. Hope this helps.:goodvibes

:rotfl2: Well our kids get off the last 3 days of that week - and half the first 2- so lots of people use that as an out of peak time to go on vaca. But come on- it is not like the whole state is heading down:rotfl2: Although Tony Soprano has been known to make an appearance.
I saw 4 families that I knew when we went in April - so I would say April is more Jersey. :rotfl2:

We went last year during Jersey week. There were lots and lots of folks from NJ. While in the audience of the Sounds Dangerous show, the MC asked who was from NJ. The majority of the audience rasied their hands. It was a great week to go. The weather was perfect. It was crowded, but not more than a typical summer week.

I've been to NJ week, summer and during Spring Break. I've only see people I know during the summer or Spring Break, never during NJ week, even when I know people who are there, I just never see them. It definately isn't as crowded as summer or Spring Break, but there are definately crowds. We're thinking of going next year during NJ Week, LOVE Food and Wine!

I agree. We went this past Jersey Week and, after reading various message boards, I was SCARED! I had previously been to WDW the week after Christmas and Spring Break. Jersey Week was maybe half as crowded as those other two times. Not to say there weren't crowds, but it really wasn't that big of a deal. A lot of rides in MK never opened their Fast Pass machines. The one day we were at MK, we rode 10-11 rides (including Buzz 3 times) and were done and gone by 2pm. That included eating lunch, too.

We got there before opening with a plan and a map (so we didn't have to do the "sooo...ummmm...where do you want to go?" upon entry :confused3 ) and we had a blast.

If my son's school schedule ever worked out to where he had 2 or 3 days off that week (we're not in NJ), I wouldn't hesitate to go again. :cheer2:

Jersey Week also gets busy since it coincides with Veteran's Day Weekend. Many kids from all states have days off for that, so it's an ideal time for families to go since little school will be missed.

Weather is absolutely beautiful that time of year, I must say! :)
