When was the last time you used a phone book?

At home, never, if I need a number I find it online. At work, once in awhile.

Interesting, I have the exact opposite problem. I looked up restaurants in my area this weekend on the web, first 5 that came up have been out of business for several years. The phone book was more up to date. Seems the web directories never purge old, out of service businesses and numbers from their data bases.
At work, especially when I have to do a little detective work, the old fashioned phone book is very helpful.
Also keep a phone book in my car to look up numbers when shopping.

I don't use web directories, I mostly check the website for the businesses I need. We have 4 area codes in the Detroit metro area but I only get a directory for part of my area code, so using the phone book isn't practical. The nail salon in the mall by us isn't listed in the phone book but if I go to the malls website it has the names and phone numbers of the businesses located there. If we are out shopping or running errands, I use the information provided on my navigation or my DH looks up the phone numbers on the web using his phone. I am frustrated by how many restaurants, for example, don't bother with being listed in the phone book.

lt 10 years ago.

411 used to be free on the cell phones (now they charge)

internet is always on and cell phone has internet access.

plus if it's rush because my parents are seniors they don't pay for 411 so i can run upstairs and use their phone. :)

Years. I just use the Interwebs. I think it is a waste of paper, ink, and gas when you can just go online and look something up. I think they should still offer it for those without the web but you should have to request it instead of have it delivered automatically.

I agree, but then I bet the number of phone books made would be cut by half, and then they couldn't charge as much for advertising. If we never had a phone book again, I doubt we would really miss it.

:lmao: What a timely question. I used the phone book yesterday to look up my aunt's phone number.

I use 2 everyday.THe back leg of my couch broke and they are holding up the back leg until the new furniture comes.
