This seems to be only happening at Disney parks.

There are sites outthat report accidents at every theme park. It doesn't only happen at Disney. However, it's ofte only those that happened at Disney that are mentioned in the news.

I'm not sure why it really matters. Do you think that it is only Disney that unfortunate accidents happen?

FYI sadly there was other deaths all over the country that I have never heard. I suppose since it didn't happen in the House of Mouse, it was not newsworthy.

And since you are very interested....other area parks in Orlando with deaths. :(

ETA: I am implying by the above that this boy died in the quote below and didn't mean to do that. But you will find other incidents across the country in below link.

Boy injured in fall from roller coaster
(Saturday, February 25, 2006) - A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured when he fell out of a roller coaster, apparently because he stood up in response to a dare. The accident happened on the Triple Hurricane roller coaster at Cypress Gardens Adventure Park in Winter Haven, Florida. The boy eluded the lap bar restraint and was thrown from his car as it rounded a sharp turn near the end of the ride. He fell 10-12 feet to the ground.
The Florida Bureau of Fair Rides Inspection blamed the accident on "patron error," and found no evidence there was a malfunction of the ride or the boy's safety restraint. Police investigators also blamed the accident on the victim's behavior.

The boy's parents said they intend to sue the park for negligence. A park spokesman said, "We stand by the results of the completed investigations of state and local officials, which cleared the park of any negligence or error in this unfortunate accident."

I recall a death occuring probably 5 or so years ago on the Spiderman ride - involving an issue with the pyrotechnics portion of it. I cant find a link though...

Death happens. At the oddest, strangest, most *inconveinent* times. I dont think a death at UNI or Disney should be automatically thought to be "their fault"

That poor family though. MAN! :guilty: My heart is so so sad for them. I cant even imagine. :sad2:

I asked DH the same question last night about Universal. I forgot about that website.

Disney is #1 in the world of theme parks. There are always people looking to knock #1 off the pedestal.

Thrill rides everywhere seem to be pushing the limit. Despite all the warnings and precautions, there will always be people, young and old, who appear to be in perfect health and find out the hard way they are not. Aside from having a thorough medical exam prior to going on extreme rides, not to mention people who just do stupid things, thrill rides will continue to claim lives.

I'll conitnue to get my thrills on rides like Spaceship Earth. I haven't lost a lunch yet!

Accidents and natural deaths happen everywhere. I don't think that the location really has anything to do with it, my suspicion of Mission Space aside. I can't see how Disney could in any way have anything to do with this latest one.

There hasn't been a death on Spiderman. There was one on Hulk and on Mummy. Both people had health issues.

Deaths at Universal are also reported all over the news but I think you tend to remember when it is the park you are most closely related to. When the woman sufffered a heart attack on Hulk, you had threads like this on the Universal fansites/discussions boards on why "Universal makes the news with a heart attack and Disney doesn't." There were even people who thought Disney just did a better job of keeping things from the news. That isn't true but people often have selective memory and seem to think that the news is just foccusing on "their" park.
