Is it better to go the week of Thanksgiving or week of New Years? I know both will be busy. I have 2 in high school with honors classes so it’s hard to miss for vacations.

We have gone to Disneyland the last 2 years in October. The 2nd and then the 1st week so very busy times to be there. Last year during the first week was insane but we still had a good time. We were planning to skip this year but are starting to get the itch to go. However, I’d like to go during the Christmas decorations this time. We went the week of Thanksgiving 12 years ago so it’s been a long time since we have seen it during that time. My kids are 17, 14, and 11 so it’s easy to maneuver in crowds. We are trying to soak up some good family time before college for my oldest. 🙂 Any tips or advice on if it’s worth going then is appreciated. Thanks!

I have been for both, sometimes during the same season. When I choose to go only once during the holiday season though, I pick Thanksgiving week. It feels more festive to me perhaps because I am not tired of Christmas yet. :) Also, my family enjoys having Thanksgiving dinner at the resort.

Another vote for Thanksgiving Week. And, if the Candy Canes matter to you, usually the first date for the DL Candy Cane making is the day after Thanksgiving. The Candy Canes are not made after Christmas. With a good plan and MP, you should be able to get a lot done and have a great trip.
