any difference between the week leading up to the 4th of July and the week of the holiday? We're first timers, but used to DW at that time. We could also hold off till the middle of July or go around the 20th of June. Thanks for any and all advice!!!:)

Those would be "packed" weeks I guess, but mainly stick to mid-week visits? But then again, your used to DW, so your probably used to alot of people.

I'd say go in June though, barely the start of summer vacation, so less people than if you went around the week before/week of July 4th. :D

Usually not that big a difference. However a lot of us are seeing crowd surges from SoCal AP holders and their blackout is shifting later next year. If it was me I would go after July 4 rather than before.

Here is some info on this:

You would think that. But this past year has proven this very wrong. As Hydroguy pointed out, AP holders make up a much more significant percentage of the attendance at DLR than at WDW. At the end of summer, there are many many many So. Cal. AP holders that will want to get in a visit or two before their passes are blocked out in July. This caused a huge surge of crowds in late June this past year, whereas when the AP holders got blocked out, the park's crowd level significantly dropped, ESPECIALLY on 4th of July when 3/4 APs are blocked out.

Go in July.

Just to add to what DLR29 wrote: we were in DL on Sunday, June 28, and Sunday, July 5, and both Sundays were relatively slow, and definitely not overly crowded.

so much. I'm thinking we may go to WDW for the 4th, then fly out to DL after that. Still in planning stages but all the information I'm gathering from these boards is so helpful!! We have free flights that need to be used by 7/31, and being a teacher means I really only have the summer to travel. Not a big deal, we're used to it.:thumbsup2

I also agree about going after July 4th. With all the new shows and addition these next few years, the end of June was very busy. We were there this June from the 24th to July 1st. That Sunday was very uncrowded and we loved it. This is because the Socal AP holder just got blocked out. Deluxe APs were allowed on Sunday (which is what we had) so any Socal resident with that one could have come, but not the ones with the discount pass. This next summer we are going to go end of July or maybe first week in Aug. We will not be going at the end of June again. Mid July is when we usually go and we have found it to be nice. Lots of people, yes, but not totally crazy nuts.
