son was 4 months when we started cereal and food. i make all his baby food. he refuses to eat the jar stuff. lol I cook everything and then put it in the food processor. then it goes into ice cube trays. then into freezer bags.
at 5 months we introduced juice - apple and white grape. he's still not sure of them.
he's a really good eater! eats anything, the peaches weren't ripe so that was hilarious and he won't go near those now! squash is his favorite!
we started with the puff crackers and baby mum-mums at 7 months. he loves those too. i've got so much food in the freezer it'll be another month or so when i start to introduce more finger foods.
i'm just worried about introducing stuff with seasonings in them. tht's not to great for their tummies either.
i'm still trying to get him to hold the baby spoons. he has a good*grip on the sippy cup, but doesn't hold his head back to drink. would rather me hold it.
All three of my kids started rice cereal at about 3-4 months and bananas..then slowly added other fruits..then veggies. By 7 months or so, when they sat in the high chair, they ate mashed up finger foods and all three had peanut butter and jelly (tiny tiny pieces) by then..7-8 months or so.
None have ever had any allergies or food sensitivities and are all very good eaters. This whole peanut butter thing was never an issue until the last several years and all of a sudden lots of kids are allergic to it.
My oldest, 17, had reflux and at just a month old we were told by the pedi to put cereal in with her formula. She's sitting next to me right now, very beautifully grown..healthy, strong and well developed.
Truthfully, I took a heck of a lot more of my mom's advice than my pediatrician.
