When to make room requests

I know it's not guaranteed, but I was hoping to request either the cabanas or casitas section at CSR. I really don't want a room in the ranchos section. I already booked and paid in full online, is it too late to make that request? I figured I can't request it when we check in, because I'm sure the room will already be assigned.

Phone reservations and ask them to add your request to your reservation. Maybe before phoning have a look st the resort map and read page 1 of the CSR thread here to get a clearer idea of what location you'd like. You can also make requests on the online check in 60 days before arrival. Make sure they match what you've requested on your reservation.

Keep in mind that most of Casitas is preferred, and Business Class is guaranteed Cabanas 9B. So you you have booked either room type, you should skip that part of location request.

Thanks everyone, I didn't book BC or Preferred. I was going to do online checking this weekend, so is that sufficient, to put the request on there? Of course I'd rather have a good location in casitas or cabanas, but I'd rather a bad location on one of those 2 than a good location in ranchos. (Lived in AZ for a long time, and not a fan of the that type of theming). We lucked out last time and got casitas, when I didn't know much about the sections of the hotel.
