Can anyone who has ridden Forbidden Journey multiple times advise this newbie as to precisely when to look away (at my clenched feet) and for how long in order to minimize motion sickness? Thanks so much!

I get motion sick from the screens. So when a screen comes, I just close my eyes. If you listen to the dialogue you can pretty much tell when you have changed scenes. If not just take a quick peek.

Do you keep your eyes closed for the whole duration of each screen, Damo? Is it easy to anticipate when they are coming? Thanks again.

Yes I do. It isn't really easy to anticipate the exact second since there is such a mixture of scenery and simulation and you don't want to miss any of the scenery. Basically, if you hear anything about Quidditch/following Harry on his broom, you are heading to a screen. If you are heading off the Quidditch pitch, you are heading into animatronics.

I find that if I just close my eyes for the entire quidditch session, I can get through the ride without too much queasiness. I always peak so I don't miss anything.

Forbidden Journey made me so queasy the first few times we rode. But then one day I had a butterbeer before and I felt perfectly fine the whole ride! Now I always have a butterbeer before I ride and it works like a charm. I have no clue why though. lol

Thanks for the idea!

Take an antivert (Meclizine) the night before and then again the next morning. FJ is a strange ride in that it really bothers some people you think it wouldn't and doesn't faze others. When I was there last August/Sept I used the single rider lines and rode it over and over every day. It never fazed me. However when I was there in Oct with my husband, it made him sicker than a dog. I had insisted that he take a Meclizine that morning. He gave me a hard time, reminding me that he had never gotten sick on any amusement park ride in his life and he loved the orange side of Mission space, which would make him sick if anything did. I told him FJ wasn't like any other ride he had ever ridden and to take the Meclizine to humor me. He was green when he got off FJ. He was on sinus meds at the time and swore that in conjunction with the Meclizine was what made him sick. He felt off the rest of the day. We went back to Universal the next day and he skipped his sinus meds and Meclizine and while not as sick as the day before he still felt off for awhile. We went back this past May and both took Meclizine again. I felt fine and immediately rode it several times in a row using single rider line, whereas he rode it once and again felt a little off, refusing to ride it again. Again this is a man who loves all roller coasters, Simpsons, Star Tours, the orange side of Mission Space, Tea Cups, etc. None ever bother him in the least, but for some reason FJ throws him for a loop. It doesn't bother me at all, but just for precaution I always take Meclizine before riding, then I ride it over and over. It has never made me the least bit queasy or dizzy in the least.:confused3
