We are planning a WDW trip with my parents who have never been. I am trying to figure out the best time to go, and here are my ideas.
1. Sept. after labor day.-- pros- lower crowds, warm enough for pool use ( a biggie for my dad. cons- HOT! HOT! HOT!, kids would miss 1 week of school.
2. 2nd week of Jan.-- pros- low crowds, not too hot. cons- may not be able to swim, may be TOO cool, kids miss 1 week of school.
3. 1st full week of June-- pros- kids do not miss school, warm enough to swim, not terribly hot cons- crowds (my parents want to go when crowds are low)

So, all you Disney experts, which time should I choose? I am leaning toward June, but am really worried about the crowds. If we get there and it is packed full, I will really be depressed. My parents have never been, and say they will never go again, so I want it to be the best trip possibe. Are the crowds really bad the 1st week of June, and is that value season, peak season, or what? Thanks!

I would probably rule out Jan. as the weather can be iffy and downright cold.If pools are important to your dad(and kids)go with June or Sept. Now,June can be as hot as Sept.,so I would not use that as a factor.Sept. would be less crowded. If your kids are young and missing school not as big a deal,I'd go with Sept. for the lower crowds. If you relly do'nt want them missing scool, the begining of June should not be bad as far as crowds, but more then Sept. Have fun whatever you decide!! :earboy2:

my kids are not little. We will have one 6th grader, one senior, one sophomoe and 2 college age. I took them out of school this year for a week in Cozumel, and they have done well with make-up work and all, but it was a pretty hard week trying to get all the regular homework done as well as all the make-up work. I would really rather just go in June, but I do worry about crowds. Also, what season is the 1st week of June in? I don't want to pay the highest rates for my hotel.... I am actually hoping for a code! Thanks :jumping4:

Given what you are wanting to avoid, I would rule out the first week of June. It will be crowded (it is also Gay week) and it will be hot.

If low crowds and warm weather are the most important things, then choose September.

By the way, to answer your question about what season it is, here you go:
January - Value Season
June - Regular Season
September - Value Season

So January & September would be your cheapest options.

I had forgotten all about gay days! Thanks for the advice....now I guess I will start planning for Sept. !! :smooth:

When you say after Labor Day do you mean right after? I think the end of September would be good. Still will be low crowds, hot some days but maybe will start to cool off a little bit and you are further out of hurricane season than early in the month. Just my thoughts though.

I am pretty open on which week in Sep. I was thinking either the 3rd or 4th week. I figured that would allow enough time for all the summer crowds and labor day crowds to be gone. :earboy2:

Hi, I'm trying to decide between September and early January. My kids will be out both times. We used to go at end of October, weather was great but crowds beginning to grow. To me, the crowds is the big issue. It really changes the experience. From what I can tell, the early part of January has been pretty busy. The worst part of September is the hurricanes. It seems also really good if the weekends can be avoided. They always seem busy.
