Thinking of first trip to Universal, staying on site. If you had to choose between April 20 - apr 26 or June 4- June 10, which would you choose. Right now it looks like June is about $300 cheaper then April. What is better crowd wise and also will there be any discounts typically offered at either time?

According to universal crowd calendar June 5 starts high season, crowd level 7 and up, so April might be better crowd wise.

I disagree! The week of April 20, 2014 is Easter week. One of the busiest tourist weeks in Orlando all year!! That's why it costs more.

The first week of June is relatively quiet. Especially compared to Easter.

Early June is quiet...most schools haven't been released and summer vacations haven't started yet.

Typically early June is quieter and lower crowds...HOWEVER,,,,, 2014 brings us the opening of the Harry Potter expansion at the Studios. When it opens ,it will greatly increase crowds and change crowd patterns for a long time after. At this point no one knows when the opening will be.Universal is looking for a summer 2014 opening, which means there very well could be soft openings early June...just something to be aware of

Yes that's true...I hadn't thought of that.

I actually looked at my kids school schedules and the have may 2 off. So I think the beginning of may might be better. So far it's cheaper than June or April so that should mean less crowded right?
does universal offer discounts like disney? If I book and one comes out can I get it applied to my reservation?

early may is a safer bet, slow to moderate crowds according to calendars and past spring break/easter. and yes, just call the hotels periodically to check, they will change it.

if it were me, i would go in May.
a better chance at lower crowds and cheaper hotel rates.

if you book and a promo comes out for your time period, call and have the rate
modified.

How is March at Universal? I know that Spring break at Disney World is crazy busy, but we have not been to Universal yet.

thanks!
