Ok Dis board listeners~
I trust your opinions after watching your posts and listening to the show for about 2 years now. My husband and I usually go early Sept. and LOVE the low crowd level and never mind the heat. However, this time we will be traveling with both of our girls. One will be 5 (almost 6) and will have just started kindergarten. The other is 2.5. Yes, we will be missing some school for this trip. We want to go at a light crowd time. So...when would you go? We would like to make it a 5 night/6 day trip. We will probably stay at the Caribbean Beach unless one of you experts can recommend a moderate that you feel more strongly about. What are your thoughts and why??? (and try not to hijack my thread too soon :lmao: )
Thanks!
Kim

I also love September. The only downside is that it is still quite warm in early September and the Hurricane factor can be a concern.

I would suggest May. September or May is when I usually go. I like late September and early to mid-May - both for the same reason, the weather. Warm, but not overbearingly hot or humid. I'm from San Diego and am so spoiled weather wise.

Plus, crowds are low in May. The other benefit, the Flower and Garden show which is beautiful to see and the flower power concerts are a lot of fun. Why not go over Mother's Day weekend and treat yourself?

My favorite times to go are October and April. I don't have a lot to compare it to, since the only other months i've been there would be July and August. However, what I know from my years of research is that I would say October if you have two young kids, so you can go to the Halloween party. Plus, there's the Food and Wine festival. Anytime ANYONE asks me when to go, I always say, "During the Food and Wine festival."

I really want to try for a January or February trip next year, because I know the crowds can be low (excluding President's Week which is just crazy) and the value prices and deals you can get are some great savings. You should also consider that. My main recommendation though, is for October. :)

I'm convinced this May will be crowded..I think the secret is officially out! ;)

September will be hard bcs she will just have started school and IMO would be disruptive. Does your school have days off in October? Perhaps you can take advantage of one of those. The week before Thanksgiving is nice- there will be some holiday decorations up. We've done Jan and early Feb and the weather can be cool and rainy- it was downright cooooold running back to our room from the pool.

If you can wait- April/early May would be perfect because the weather is warmer and the hours are extended in the parks which gives you more flexibility with your touring.

Hope this helps!

I'm agree with __disneygirl. October is the time to go. We went the first week in October in 2008 and thought it was perfect. The weather was great. The crowds low. F&W and MNSSHP are on.

When is that special deal of buy 4 nights, get 3 free for? That might help determine when you go.

You asked about moderates. I stayed at POFQ this past trip. It was my first stay at a moderate. I was afraid I'd be disappointed, but I loved it. We walked over to Riverside while we were there. It seemed like a great place for kids.

Let us know what you decide.

Hey Lady!!! It's good to see you! :goodvibes I hope all is well and you are still cruising with us. :thumbsup2

why will May be crowded? Other than the cruise, of course!

It's just a feeling I have is all....When going to disney I know there is no magic 8 ball that will be able to predict crowds I always expect & prepare for the worst and hope for the best

May has never been empty it's just not as crowded as other months...I think it has alot to do with the fact spring break is over for most schools and the end of the school year is almost there..May kind of falls in the middle..why take your kids out of school if there is only a couple of weeks left and when they were already out of school a couple of weeks ago on spring break. I find families with pre school children are mostly there in my experiences in the past.

My husband and I are planning a trip to Disney and wonder what the temperatures and the crowds are like in February and March. I would appreciate any info any of you can give us.

Wow, what a good question. One with many correct answers.

We actually visit 4 times a year because, from our perspective, its the "perfect time to go". We plan a week-long visit in January or early February just to get away from the winter up here. We plan a 3-4 day trip in May so that we can see the Flower & Garden Show in Epcot. We plan a 3-4 day trip in October for the Food & Wine Festival. And another 3-4 day trip in Early December just to see all the decorations, and this year to participate the the DIS meet.

Does that help?
