Looking for people who have been the first couple of weeks in May in the last couple of years, how are the crowds then? pirate:

I love going to WDW the first two weeks in May, local schools are still in session and the children have test, most parents don't or wont pull them out early for vacation. The weather is warm but only gets warmer later in the month. Crowds, what crowds??? In the past crowds where no trouble. All that being said I'm going May 21...last day of school for my nephews.

We've been the first week of May before and thought it was great. The crowds weren't too bad and the weather was warm but not too hot. Unfortunately our kids are getting to the point we can't afford to take them out that time of year. One thing I have notice in recent years the parks are closing earlier the first part of May.

Have Fun

We usually go 2nd week of May, and we love it!! Yes, the parks tend to close earlier, but with the low crowds, we always get to see and do everything we want! Unfortunately, our boys can't be out of school for that week, so we'll be going for Easter week. But that's better than not going at all!!:earsgirl:

Great, that's just want I wanted to hear. I usually go in September (so I'm used to early park closings) but didn't get there this year and can't wait until next September so I thought May would be good before the kids get out of school. I homeschool so I can go whenever I want and just maybe Star Wars weekends will be happening also. Guess I'll make my reservations today.

MAGICINMYHEART: May 21st is my birthday, have a good trip!!

I like Sept too, but our favorite time of the year is early May. Crowds are low since school is still in session and we also love going during the Flower and Garden Show at Epcot! Our next trip is already booked: May 2-12! We're splitting our stay between three resorts. So far we've only booked the Dolphin using the government rate. I keep looking at Hotwire and if I get the nerve might try Priceline! I'll be wearing my lime green ribbons, so if you see me be sure to say HI!

We tend to visit in late Jan or early Dec, however we did go to WDW for a week over Mother's Day this year. It was our first May trip, and there was so much about it that we loved! The crowds were quite low, with the exception of the MK on spectro night. The MK was the most crowded we have ever seen it that night, and we quickly hopped to Epcot to get away from the madness. Epcot was virtually empty, so I think everyone was at the MK! As others have mentioned, the parks tend to close earlier in early May, however we felt we were able to see everything we wanted to, and we enjoyed our evenings away from the parks (Cirque, the Boardwalk, mini golf, etc). Over Mother's Day weekend, our resort (AKL) was very crowded. The resort did quiet down the day after Mother's Day, however. Also, I will note that it was extremely hot and humid while we were there, and it slowed us down a bit. It did not rain but we melted from the heat/humidity. According to those we spoke with while there, the weather was unseasonably warm this past May. I think, usually, the humidity is not so bad in early May. We would not hesitate to go in early May again!

We were there mid-May this past year and the lines were short, but there seemed to be a lot of people milling around. This seemed to be the case the last few times we have visited - no ride lines, but lots of people around.

We bought E-Night tickets when we arrived at the resort, but we didn't really need to do this because the crowds were very light.

Fast Pass helps tremendously - I recommend using this whenever possible. However, sometimes we didn't need that either!
