When to go...June or August?

Or I guess July. I was thinking that the best times to go would be around the end of June, as the first available time we have to go, or near the end of August, before my kids are back in school.

Really, I'm thinking that crowd-wise, end of August would be better. But, we haven't been since summer 2006, and I don't know if we can wait that long. It will be my youngest son's first time, and I am soooo excited to get him there! he is finally walking, and by this summer, he will be an expert at it. (He was a preemie, and has a very mild cerebral palsy in his legs, so I'm very excited that he's walking!)

Last time we went, I planned for the perfect Christmas card picture....a picture of the whole family with Mickey Mouse. I got it, too. It's an adorable picture. Then we adopted our third child, and there was no way I was going to send out a family picture out without our little grand finale! So, this is it. We are taking the family, and it will be our youngest's first time. And I am determined to take that perfect family picture that I can send out for our Christmas card next year. And I've even gone all "Mommy-crazy" and bought the boys some matching clothes. When we get our income tax back, I am dragging the family up to the nearest mall with a Disney Store, and we are stocking up!

Last year we went around Father's Day Time in June for a week, the parks were a little bit busy but not that bad. The longest line we waited on at Disney was 2 hours for Nemo but that's because it just opened a few weeks before and an hour for Space Mountain. Every other ride wasn't that long. That's all you have to do is take advantage of the fast pass and you'll have nothing but fun if you go in June and the weather is picture perfect. High 70's to low 80's and sunny! Just make sure to bring your sunscreen!!!

Except for Father's day June is still rather quiet and much more quiet than a hot August day. Out here the regular schools get out the first or second week of June but we do have a lot of private schools and year round public schools.

The key is planning. After the stampede is over the first hour to as much as 6 hours (winter low time) have no lines. Good planning and getting fast passes and stand by single rider lines will get you into most of the rides before crowds hit.

August can be REALLY warm if the weather makes a difference to you at all! June is usually much better like VegasMike21 said...High 70º to low 80º. I know the weather makes a big difference to me and my trip planning!

i would prefer june over august- it is SO hot in august!

How exciting for you guys!! I would also say June. The weather isn't quite as hot yet. But either way you'll see more crowds then you would at other times of the year (since they are both considered summer). But my guess would be that June might have lighter crowds. Plus you don't have to wait until August! ;)

Congrats on your littlest one walking!

I also agree with June. I have an AP and frequent DL as you can imagine. My daughter's birthday is in Early June and the weather is pleasant. In August, I tend to go only after dark because it is very hot during the day.

We always go 2-3rd week in August, Usually busy and hot.

I vote for as early in June as you can go. We always went as soon as the kids got out of school in mid to late June. The crowds were not too bad yet and the weather for us Washingtonians’ was not too hot.

The one time I went in July I nearly melted in the heat.
