When to go - June, August or October?

I'm outdoors at WDW week in, week out year round and considering that there's a significant temp drop, I'd go with the last week in Oct. It's expected to be a little more crowded than the last week in Aug, but not enough for it to be a deal breaker. June is out of the question.

I'd say August.

It's hot .. and probably will rain every afternoon, but the crowds will be low as most kids are already in school.

October will be crazy crowded as it get closer to Halloween, but weather is nicer.

June .. never gone in June, but seems like it will be both HOT and CROWDED .. not a good combo.
It actually tends to get less crowded closer to Halloween except weekends. I was surprised by this when I had to move my trip from the first week in October to the last one. The only exception might be weekends; they will probably be just as crowded. MK on a non-party night and Epcot on the weekends will be crowded, but if the OP can work around that, it will be fine.

I’ve been three times in August—my best trips. Yes, it’s hot and humid, but the sun sets much earlier than in June so the evenings are tolerable.

Like I said up thread, those Halloween parties ruin October for me. I love the Food & Wine Festival, but I don’t think I’d want to spend a lot of time there with a 2 yo and 6 yo.

August is extremely hot, and October is drawing much larger crowds than it did in the past. I'd go with June, though I know that gives you less time for planning (you're already in the 60-day FP window).

We went last week of August last year and are going the third week in October this year. We've been in October before and the crowds were not noticeably different enough for us to tolerate the heat and rain of August. October is at least slightly cooler with a lesser chance of daily rain. The rain was a real bummer for us last August. But overall, we found wait times to be comparable as our other trips in October. Since there's "not really a slow time anymore", we now go when we have the chance for best weather or what fits our schedule best.

I've been to WDW many times over many years, in every month of year except June, including most major holidays. EVERYONE who is telling you to go during a specific month is really just basing that on THEIR biases/preferences/experiences.
1. There is NO ideal season. There are advantages and disadvantages to every month.
2. Weather isn't really predictable. In short, strong storms/rain can happen year round. Though I should add, October is hurricane season, and some months tend to be wetter than others.
3. IMO, almost what matters more than actual weather, is how well acclimated you are to the weather you get. It takes your skin about 2 weeks to acclimate. If you don't/can't expose your skin to 90 degree temps, then 90 will feel hot. If you spend all your pre-trip time in climate controlled spaces, then 90 will feel hot. The same is true for cold temps. If, however, you get daily pre-trip walks in 90 degree weather, then highs of 90 can be quite enjoyable.
4. Crowds. IMO, it is a mistake to get hung up on crowd -levels. In short, WDW was built to handle crowds. Low crowd times of year have many disadvantages, IMO, like ride closures, short park hours, reduced staff, and they've had many years to work out the details. IMO, the big consideration is price; higher crowd seasons cost more... except for WDW's quiet assorted upcharges: October = MK closes early, unless you pay for the party-ticket upcharge.
5. Oddball things like bad/great CM's and illness can make/break any trip. Someone might say they had a bad trip once in July, but the reason why it was bad likely has little bearing on the outcome of YOUR trip.

Ultimately, your experience really depends on your preferences and also many random variables. Some folks hate cold, others hate heat. Great/bad staff and illnesses can happen in any season.

Ultimately, probably the only way to be certain is to try each time of year for yourself.
