We are wanting to make a second trip to Disney World in January 2016. I will be traveling with a total of 3 adults and 2 children (7) and (9). We want to take the kids out of school for 3 days and stay the weekend wither wed- sunday or Sat- Wed. I am wanting to know what is the best weeks to go in January to get the best rates and avoid the running race weekends. Also what are the best resorts for you value to stay at?

this year we went from jan 4 thru the 12. the weather was great, much warmer than i expected from past trips. the first 5 or 6 days were perfect but the crowds got heavier as we got to marathon weekend. the 4th was the last night of osborne lights which was a plus for us as we had never seen them. also the castle had all of the christmas lights on until the 12th which is when the crane appeared to take them down. the rates were good due to a special offer available starting jan 5th. in summary, i would recommend this time , after new years but with the knowledge that marathon makes things busy at the end of the week, especially at epcot on the final day. hope this helps!

I would go later in the month, after marathon weekend and MLK weekend are both over. :)

I'd recommend the last week in January. Last year we went January 31-Feb 7 and we enjoyed that time period.

We are going Jan 2-9. We expect it will still be busy the weekend of the 2-3 but hope crowds will drop off as school starts again. We will leave the morning of the 9th. We have always gone in Nov. but our son starts college this fall so it's not possible to go in Nov. this year. He is off on Christmas break until the 11th of Jan. We 're nervous about the weather but decided we would rather go as a family in Jan. than leave him behind and go in Nov. Crossing our fingers (all year!) Funny thing is the kids don't even know...it'll be a Christmas surprise!

We took our first family trip this month on the 5th-9th, and I thought it was fantastic. We got the 30% discount, and stayed at the WL. I had my fingers crossed that the Christmas decor would still be up, and we really lucked out that they didn't take it down until our last day! It was a great start for our trip to walk into the lobby, see that huge tree, and hear my son go, "Whoooaaaa!" :thumbsup2

I thought the weather was mostly fine. It got pretty chilly our last two days, especially on the morning boat to MK, but luckily we had sweaters and jackets with us. And the weather definitely didn't stop my ds or dh from riding the Rapids ride about 10 times in a row since not many other people were crazy enough to get in line, lol.

Yep, we are last week of January fans, too. No crowds, Cheaper rates, great weather usually, but beware this is ride refurb season. Expect Splash Mountain to be down for a month each year around this time. Why that ride has so much downtime compared to others, I don't know.

WDW is not as bad as DLR as far as refurbs. I won't go back to DLR in January after that debacle that I dubbed, "World of Closure".

Hubby and I want to go in January 2016 to celebrate his 65th birthday. We are thinking of January 17 - 23 (his birthday is the 21st). I know MLK day is the 18th - what do you think the crowds will be like during the week? Thanks
