when to eat for CP?

How does CP package work out, time-wise? For a 5pm CP, do you eat "dinner" at 3:30, or after the show? Do you get a choice of times for your meal, or does disney assign you a meal time? Any recommendations for dinner times for either the 6:45 or 8:15 shows?

This is our fourth time doing Candlelight Processional. The first three times, we did the 8:15 show, and had dinner before. This year, we're trying the 6:45 show, and we'll have dinner after.

When you call to reserve the package, Disney Dining will help you with restaurant times.

When you call, you tell the rep. what showtime you would like for CP and which restaurant you would like. They will give you a choice of dinner times. If you go to the first show, your dinner times would be after. For the 6:45, you might have a choice of dinner at 5:00 or at 8:00. We prefer the later 2 CP shows as it is not dark for all of the first show. Of course, this is just our preference. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

We like to go to the 5:00 processional and then make ps' for 7. This year we are going to Great Britain on Christmas Day. We can't wait. The processional is wonderful

We enjoy the 5pm CP showing, so we have dinner after the performance. For those attending the 8:15 show, dinner would be before the show. I believe those attending the middle show have a choice of dinner before or after. Part of the reason we enjoy the 5pm show is that we like eating after instead of before, but that's entirely a personal preferance.

As others have said, when you choose the show time that you want to attend the CM's at WDW Dining will help you choose a dining time.
