When you are moving from another resort into your DVC (for example, to save points, or because you don't have enough) what do you find is the best time to check-in?

I will be at PC for Halloween and then moving into OKW Saturday. Am I better off going to OKW first thing in the morning or waiting until later in the day, or even waiting until the evening?

All thoughts appreciated....

In my situation...at the AKV for one day and then moving to SSR for 2. I plan on moving in the a.m. then going to the parks. Even though early in the morning your room might not be ready...they will hold your luggage for you and even transport it from one resort to the other. I rather just check in and get it done with, instead of dealing with it later in the day or late at night. Also, since I plan on being on the Deluxe DDP and I want to be able to use it right away and get my resort mug.

PS: There are no "points savings" to be gained by playing with your check-in time.

True.... but there are point savings when you stay "elsewhere" the night before you check in at your DVC location..... Spending night a night elsewhere and then a week at DVC, saves a minimum of 8 points (and most likely more) for that one night. I have more than enough points to stay the extra night, but isn't worth it to me. I would rather pack up and move.

We always try to check in early and "if" the room is ready then fine, but generally it is not. We get our park tickets and go to a park to spend the day and go back later to unload our things. It works for us and we don't mind waiting. :goodvibes

I usually send my luggage to the DVC resort first thing in the morning. Then, I hop on a bus and head to a park for a quick visit...an hour or two. Then, I head to my DVC resort to checkin. Usually that's between 10 and 11. Usually I can't get into my villa, so I grab some lunch, go for a swim or go back to a nearby park..usually Epcot! Then I return later in the afternoon/early evening, and get into my room.

I voted early - if your DVC resort uses room ready for assignment, you have a better chance getting your preferred location if check in earlier. SSR is one of those resorts, particularly if you want to avoid Carousel.

I voted "Before 9" because that's what we're doing. We are staying at POP one night (saving 80 points!!) and then moving over to VWL. I figure it's best if we go ahead and check-in first that day. We're doing the DDP so we need to do that first off anyway. Then, we'll head off to the parks and I'll call every once in a while to see if our room is ready. :cool1: I was going to have the bags transferred from POP to VWL, but there's really no point since we need to go there to check-in and start our DDP....

I have only tryed this once in WDW and the room was not ready till 3:30.
But when i did this in HHI I got you room on a Sun morning in July at 6:30 am. This was great we had spent the night at the days inn just in front of the Disney resort so I had moved the bags in did the food shopping and then woke up the family for the move.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I will try this 2 tome on this trip and hope it works at least once:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I voted for all of the above. :-)

For us the best time is as soon as we arrive. Doesn't matter what time of day it is. We just want to get checked-in and have that behind us as we go out and enjoy the parks.
