Hi all

I am getting married in May 2010 and I know that the date can't be booked until 1 year out but I have noticed a few people mentioning on here that they have called before the 1 year deadline.

I really don't know when I am supposed to make the preliminary call so any advice would be great please.

Thanks

You can call now and get information, but they wont book you until a year out.... I would call around April of next year... Good Luck to you:goodvibes

You can try to call at 18 months out and they may take some basic information...but don't be disappointed if they don't get back with you right away. Remember they are focusing on brides who's wedding is closer and will give you the same courtesy when it's your turn!;)

If you are planning a trip soon and want to check out some things, you might be able to schedule a site visit and get a little more information then.

They typically recommend that you make your first call 18 months out and that way you can set up a time to do a visit and all. They can send you a ton of great information !!

Thanks for all of the advice.

We will not be going to have a planning session....cost of flights etc (ridiculous at the moment!! ). I'm thinking I will call them in the New Year before the 1 year deadline.

Does anyone know if DFTW sends out any info and/or a promotional DVD about the weddings? I did sign up to something on the weddings website but I just keep getting an email telling me to call DFTW. :confused3

They're re-doing the DVD right now, so it may be that they've stopped sending out the ancient one they used to give you.... ;)

Yes I received a DVD and a book of information with some other stuff!! Remember though that you don't have to call the day of the "1 year in advance" date to try and book. They can write you in tentatively and then if there is multiple requests they will literally pull from a bowl everyones names is what we were told!! We gave them three different times on the same date and I know they actually asked us to give them an additional date if it got down to it being too full. In the end the day we choose ...so did like over 20 other people and still we ended up getting exactly what we wanted by getting "picked randomly"!! Hope that helps!

I called them over 18 months away from our date and the first person was really helpful. I wanted to confirm a couple of things so we could sort it out ie what deposit was needed, how we could pay, when we would need to pay the balance etc.

When I called to check something else the next person was quite abrupt and rude and just kept saying 'Your wedding planner will tell you that when you book.' I only wanted to make sure we would have the right amount of money saved up and available at the right time.

When I called last month and our wedding planner called back everyone was brilliant.

Hi,
I'm very new to all this too. I picked 2/14/10 for our wedding but since it falls on a Sunday I had to pick the 9th instead. I had also asked for the DVD several times, but at this time they do not have one ready. I did have some basic questions and the guy who answered was extremely friendly and helpful. He did take some of my basic info and passed it on to a coordinator (Brianna) and told me she would probably contact me within a month. I heard back from her the next day (which really excited me!) There was very little she could do since it is still over a year out, but I did ask her to mail me any basic info along w/ a business card. (she also answered all questions that I could come up with and told me I could always email her with more) Within a week I recieved a packet with a few sheets of paper in it (it looks like a basic rundown for 2009 weddings), but Brie had explained that the new pricing for 2010 probably won't be out until May 2009. She also explained that I can call at 8 am on 2/9/09 to reserve my date (if there are others who want same place and time there will be a lottery) and if I get the date, time, and place I want then when pricing comes out in May we will begin the contract process. Hope this helps you! Good Luck!
