When to buy tickets for December

Every year I threaten to stop going to Disneyland for Christmas because it's getting too expensive, yet here I am again, booking a trip for the holidays....

Trying to decide if/when a price increase might come this Fall and when I should pull the trigger on buying tickets - any guesses on what might happen between now and December?

Buy them as soon as possible. Ticket increases can happen anytime without notice.
Is there any way to buy a multi-day pass without paying in full if you have an onsite hotel reservation and don't want it to convert to a package? I guess what I'm asking is will the hotel reservation automatically convert to a package if you add a ticket?

Not necessarily. Buy your tickets before you make hotel reservation...they will ask you if you want tickets say no and it will be only a hotel reservation.

Thanks! I go with my sister every December, and I have a pass so don't need tickets for myself. We always stay at GCH and I book the hotel early then hope for a fall sale (which has happened in all previous years, but who knows now?). With the cost of the hotel having gone up so much, it would sure be nice to space out the payment for her 5-day pass, but I don't want to be stuck with a package. I guess I'll just play it by ear this time. Last year I got 20% off her hopper with a deal through a Target Circle offer. I'd never seen that before and don't really expect it again, but we'll see.

Edited to add: I just priced out a Disneyland package through Costco. Our same trip I currently have booked still costs less than the Costco package (I put in 1 adult, GCH std room, same dates I have booked, and 5-day hopper). I can buy a 5-day hopper from Target or wherever to go with our current hotel reservation and come out ahead by a couple hundred bucks even with the Costco GC that comes with the package. But I'm going to hope for the usual fall hotel discount!

I guess I'd better just do it then... I've been finding Ares has the best deal the last few years so I supposed it's time to but the bullet and buy the tickets. :thumbsup2

Just paid $555 for my BFF’s 5-day ticket for our December trip, got her rezzies, had to pay $375 for my weekend ticket since I am blocked out, just waiting for my rezzies to open up. Just gets more expensive every year and each year we think, well, this might be our last but July comes around and we say, “well, guess we better start planning!”

First I was saying I wasn’t going to renew my MK…now I’m thinking I’ll upgrade to inspire if I get the chance. As much as Disney aggravates me at times, i just cant imagine my current life without it!

Don’t know what myDAS situation will be, still mad about Doctor Strange leaving, can’t eat any park food anymore, but I guess if all that’s left for me is sharing the porch with Frank…well…I’ll take it! Any day at Disney is better than a day anywhere else!

The nostalgia factor is huge, and just such a big deal for our family. This is how we celebrate Christmas!

Where do you buy your tickets?

I bought mine right off Disney site…just easier for me and then it’s all right there in app. I know lots of people buy from Undercover Tourist or do like DizMe and save money using their Target card. I like to keep it simple….nah, really I’m just lazy 🤣😂
LOL!! You're actually preaching to the choir here. Saving 5% isn't incentive enough for me to buy through Target, but last year there was a 20% deal and that swayed me, ha ha. This year I was tempted to add her 5-day ticket to our hotel reservation and just keep paying on it every month until it's paid off, but that would turn it into a package and I avoid those. I was hoping the usual 20% off hotel sale would come along in the fall, but then I remembered that I booked our dates to include 3 weekend nights, which aren't eligible, sigh. Last year the crowds were so bad on weekdays that I thought I'd try later dates and a weekend, but forgot about the restrictions on sale dates.

I may be able to take advantage of my DD's cast member discount--I just have to figure out how it works. I'm guessing it may have the same restriction for weekends, though.

For our four 3-day park hoppers with LL, we save $140 with Ares. I think that's our best bet right now...

I just bought our December tickets through Undercover Tourist. They had a 3-day hopper for the price of a kid's ticket, so I nabbed that before that goes away! They had some GREAT 3-day hopper deals at the top of the page, but they were only good for use until some date in September, but if you scroll down, you'll find the ones I found.

Edited to add: Just checked Ares. They have the same prices!
