When to book?

I want to go in December 2013 but of course there is no way to find flights at that time yet. Can I book the room and then adjust dates if the flights I want fall on different days? When do you usually make room reservations and flight reservations?

If you know your dates for the most part, I would book now to make sure you get what you want as you can modify your reservation later. With that said, I would book the maximum number of nights you think you might need and then make adjustments later. It is always easier to take nights away than it is to add nights. We book anywhere from 6-12 months out, booking more nights than we need so we can adjust our resort reservation to accommodate airfare prices. Good luck.

Are you doing a package or room only? With a room only you'll only need to put a one night deposit down and pay the rest when you get there.

For a package if you go down on the price they will sometimes charge a fee. If you go up then there is no charge.

What weeks in Dec 2013 are you looking to go? That would color my advice for you.

I am thinking December 4-11 or 12. I am debating on a moderate or renting points for DVC. Pop Warner would be there so not sure I would want to book a value. DVC I wouldn't be able to change the reservation which makes me.nervous. Can you book a room then update to a package later? With Pop Warner being there free dining is unlikely so room only with a discount night be my best option.

What I just did, coincidently, was book a room only reservation for Dec 2013 at BC. Knew we're going so wanted to make sure we had the room, and still plenty of time to watch air fares, shop for the lowest prices and book a fight.

By the way, was able to get AAA rate for my room-only res, too!

FYI, if you are renting DVC points, you can't book until January at the earliest. DVC members can book their home resort 11 months out, and any other resort at 7 months. If you are intending to stay anywhere other than Saratoga Springs or Old Key west, you'll definitely want to book in January - while the beginning of December is a slow time, it's a very popular time for dvc. This! I was going to wait until SW released airfare for July 2. But, we wanted to stay at AKV/Jambo and did not want to gamble our room at such a busy time. So, we booked! Now hoping for a discount because rack rate is brutal!
