I am planning to visit WDW in either Oct or Nov 2020. To keep costs reasonable, I am would like to book Pop, POR or POFQ. I am sure prices are going to increase significantly once SWGE opens and when the gondola opens. To get the room that I want, how soon do you think I need to book? How soon CAN I book? Also, once I have booked and paid the down payment, are the prices locked in or can they increase them on me? TIA

typically when Disney releases the prices for the following year they stay the same for the whole year. I beleive last year they did do a mid year price increase so although no typical it has happened. If discounts come out for your dates you can modify your reservation to the lower price. Once you book, you are locked in at that price unless you modify your reservation in any way

Historically, the only price change that may be applicable is if a discount comes out and you are able to apply it to your existing reservation. I have never seen a price increase for the resorts once they are released.

That being said, I don't book until I have a price that I am willing to pay and that is not rack rate. I wait until I have a discount that I am happy with and then I book my trips.

You can book up to 499 days in advance. Once you've booked, your rate is locked in unless you modify your reservation in any way. If you modify, you are subject to current pricing.

You can book now for 2020. You can check the resort rates on the Disney World website.

I've been waiting for the 2020 packages to come out and tried to book ASMO for first week of May and the website is saying nothing is available! Do you think this is a glitch and rooms will become available soon? thank you!

I would certainly hope so. I think I'd call Disney Central Reservations and find out if they can book your reservation.

Just to see what happens, I put my dates in (Apr 27-May 2) with ASMO and it said the same thing! This has got to be a glitch.

At an AS, it may not be a glitch. That's a big event week and dance groups stay at the All Stars.

I know there is a big cheerleading competition in May because my daughter just started doing cheer and the gym was closed the first few days of May while everyone was at Disney.

Yep. The major room blocks for those events are at the All-Stars, and they do block them out 500 days prior to ensure that the guarantee room allotment doesn't get booked by others.

So while no one may be NAMED on those rooms, they are very much spoken (yelled?) for.

That is what I was told when I contacted Disney through chat - all 3 AS resorts are booked first 2 weeks in May for the cheerleading competition. Supposedly it is the biggest on the world.
When I change my dates to arrive on 5/11 ASMo showed up but not before then.

If you plan to travel on a specific week, it is best to book the rooms whenever they become available for booking. Once they are sold out, you have missed out on that particular location. If the rate goes down in the future, you can rebook at the lower rate. Waiting on discounts can be unpredictable since you never know if any might become available.

As of today, you can book through November 7, 2020 - the 499 days in advance still applies even with the 2020 package release. Just wanted to clarify in case someone is currently trying to book November or December of 2020 and is finding nothing available.

I checked to book a Standard View at the Wilderness Lodge for Aug. 16 -23, 2020. Not available ! Hmmmm ??
