We are going on the 7 night western and was wondering what night to book Palos. I would hate to miss something really special and how do you book ahead when you don't know your rotation? THanks- Tracey

Since your on the 7 day, book Palo on Tuesday or after.. You would have already been in the 3 restaurants once already.... IMO where you dine/when thing is not important, like being in Luminers for formal night is really not a big deal....

We've never missed any dining rotation nights, and just 'double-dip,' and do Palo before our late dinner seating. (We have coffee while DD has dinner.)

That said, if you do choose to skip a night in the dining rooms, I suggest NOT to do it:

First night of Animator's Palate
Pirate night (you don't want to miss the 'participation,' enough said)
The last night (this is a do not miss, especially for your children)

oh bummer...I have my Palo on the last night...that was the only available time..what happens on the last night?

So you go to Palo for dinner early and then go to your regular dinner and just have coffee? Would you do this even if you didn't have DD with you? I'm just wondering because my husband and I are traveling alone and have Palo ressies for 6pm and then a late dinner seating. I know I'll be stuffed, but don't really want to miss out on the rotation. Would it be weird if we went to dinner and didn't order much and just visited with our tablemates?

I took our 2 kids to the regular dinner when we had Palo reservations later that evening.. They ordered their meals & I only got a coke. So you will have no problems just going & enjoying a drink...

It does not matter if you have children with you or not to double dip. We did it a week ago and we did not take the kids on that cruise.

Remember you can do as you want. You can eat at as many places as you want and eat as many dishes you want. I tried a couple of appetizers at every meal. While I did not eat everything on my plates I was able to try the things I wanted. I even ordered two desserts one night. While another I did not have any dessert at the regualr rotation.

Do as you wish it is your cruise. :sunny:

It's not too terribly bad, but usually the last night is when you tip your wait staff and a lot of people say goodbye to each other if they are not planning on meeting for breakfast the next day.

It's always a good rule to book Palo's as soon as your window of opportunity allows (either 90 or 75 days in advance) as they go like hot cakes, although they do hold out some reservations for the "scramble" since not everyone has a chance to book on-line.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but I would skip the Palo dinner so your kids can see the 'good-bye' show. I don't want to spoil it for others. I'll send you a PM.

How old is DD? Our wait staff was very upset when they thougth the kids would not be coming for dinner last year while we ate at Palo. They offered to come and get them and take them back to our room. But that was our wait staff. Not everyone would offer to do that. Most of the dinner shows are only the first time you dine at that rotation. Only thing you will miss is the menu and yoru wait staff on the last night. You can eat breakfast the next morning and give out tips.

Wrong. There is also the 'parade.' It's only available on the last night.
