When to book for Free Dining?

If you are staying at a value resort, free dining will be the quick service plan.

Which can be upgraded to another dining plan by paying the difference in price.

Also, once FD comes out you need to jump on it really quickly because it books up fast.

The thing to remember is that not every room at the resort is available with FD. Only a limited amount are designated for FD. And some categories never get free dining.

So you just book the package WITH dining beforehand, and then just upgrade the dining option? Or you just book your room and then add the dining when it becomes available?

We booked with dining before knowing the free dining was going to be offered. Then when it became available we updated only our dining.

You modify if you can or you make a new reservation and cancel you other one.

But again... You've made it very clear that free dining will determine the type of vacation you plan so in your case you should not be booking and trying to modify. You should do as we have recommended and wait.

Also, you may have to switch resorts to get it. One year it was offered when we went, but we would have had to switch resorts for availability, we chose not to.

So don't have your heart set on any certain resort in case you have to switch.
