We are going to disneyworld in august for our honeymoon. We fly out of winnipeg. Right now for 3 people it is 2000$, I wish i could travel to minneapolis, it would save us about 1000 overall for flights but i can't take an extra day there & an extra day back because we are taking time for our wedding too.

When is the best time to book? the dropped about 100$ a couple months back but i didn't take it thinking it may drop again. The ta said to hold out for westjet seat sale but right now westjet is 2500. 660& is about the best price i have been finding.

Should i book now or hold out? Gas prices are going to drastically rise by may long which is why i am worried.

Prices seem to be rising quite steadily this year, presumably due to the ever-increasing fuel costs. We are also travelling in August (flight dates of August 26th and September 2nd), and we booked our tickets in mid-January. We fly from Syracuse, NY (a 3 hour drive but absolutely worth it :thumbsup2) and paid $868, taxes in, for three direct, return flights. A $15 credit that we had from our NYE flight brought it down to $853 USD. This is on JetBlue, so that rate also includes one free checked bag per person and free advance seat selection.

Those same flights today are over $1200. So costs have risen more than 30% in just 10 weeks.

I ran our same flight dates with Air Canada and Westjet a few days ago, and both would be over $2100 for three people with the taxes. :scared1: So even at $1200, JetBlue seems like a bargain.

Our philosophy is to book when we find flight costs that we can live with.

I am nervous about smaller airlines, i have seen on the board people getting stranded by direct air, i do NOT want to get stranded, i know at least with the bigger airlines i am safe.

We can not go down the day before or day after & i guess i would suck it up if that meant more time in disney. Otherwise i would go to grand forks no problem. It is only 6 hours away. With time off for the wedding 11 days off for disney is about all we can get, our trip is 10.

I should have booked in january, that is about when it was down $100

I normally pay $140.00 RT to fly from ATL to MCO, but with gas prices the way they've been I managed to find airfare for $200.00 RT, still a bit high but I wasn't willing to take any chances. It's only 7 hours from my house to WDW but I drive an H2 Hummer gas guzzler :headache:

The day after I purchased my tix it went up $100.00 :scared1: I keep the airfare watchdog & other sites to alert me when a decent airfare comes along. Good luck

I'd book now.....I fly from Edmonton and have had my eye on flights all year. For the 3 of us (Going end Sept/ home begining Oct) I haven't found anything less than approx $2,000 for our flights. Around Christmas, AC had a 15% off pin that ran until our time, so I was able to use that and book our RETURN flights and save 15%....it still cost about $950 for the three of us, and I will have to add $75 baggage fees on top of that as well as I had to pay $20 ea to pick our seats..... I just bought our West Jet flights for our OUTBOUND trip about a month ago when they had a quick seat sale on....Flights I was looking at where $349 pp....but dropped to $229 pp, so I grabbed them.....with taxes, etc...it still came to about $1,000 but better than the $500 pp I was quoted all yr. so total for three....approx $1950 plus $75 bag fees for RTN only trip..... very much in the ball park of what you are being quoted.....I don't think fares are going anywhere but up if the past few months is any indicator.....they are just insanely expensive! Good bye seat sales, those are laughable.....they hardly take anything off the price, I just resigned myself that if I wanted to go to WDW, I'd have to suck up the expensive airfare, because it is only on the rise....not the decline....sad, but true...
Good Luck finding something you can live with! Have a wonderful honeymoon and Congrats on your big day :)

Westjet runs a sale almost every Thursday afternoon only so you may want to check these out. Also you can sign up for JetMail & they notify you of upcoming sales. I've been watching their seat sales & so far have only seen up to June 2012 with decent prices.
I'm too chicken to fly with a smaller airline, so you're not alone. My family flies Allegiant out of Grand Forks & they think I'm crazy to pay for WJ. :confused3).
Congratulations on the wedding!

thanks peeps. I think i will watch for a week or 2 then book. I know for sure may long gas prices are jumping. I just wish if it went down could get refunded lol. I have signed up for jetmail. I will check it out thursday, didn't know that is when they run seat sales .

I've been watching United fares from Edmonton to Orlando. Right now they seem to be cheapest 1-2 months out for non peak times. If it was my honeymoon I'd book as soon as I saw a fare I could live with. It wouldn't necessarily be the lowest flight price I "might" get later. Good luck, and congratulations!:)

I can't really live with the fare now but i am really worried about it jumping & making it more expensive which i would kick myself for later. If/when i book i will have to stop looking lol.

Thanks :)

Yup, once booked, I "never" check the fares again..;) Well, I usually do but the last couple of times they never did go down, only up. Again, because of work/school we usually go over Christmas.:santa:

Good luck!:)
