when to book flights to get the cheapest deals

Hi All,

Its been a while since I was on here and our last trip was is April 2007 but we are planning a trip next May. I have looked this year to see how much the last minute trips are and thought that there were some amazing deals to be had if you could go the following week, HOWEVER, I think its nicer to be able to have a definite date to be able to plan and save for so would like to book some flights. When we went in 2007 we booked our flights in the Virgin seat sale the previous September/October and paid £299 each which was excellent but I think the days of flight prices like that are well and truly over. So, the question is where to look, when to look and any other options you can think of. We are not restricted to any departure airport as we live in France and will have to drive over to the UK anyway. Thanks in advance for your help, and to help with the wait till next May we are going to Disneyland Paris next Monday

My 1st thought, why not just get a flight from Paris. Just had a look at a random 2 weeks next May with Delta. From London £436, from Paris £672 for same dates, thats crazy, I can see why its worth coming to UK to fly.
I always thought Paris was cheaper than UK, same as Amsterdam is often cheaper than UK.
As you say last minute there has been some bargains last 2 months, from around £148 return but booking in advance you are lucky to find anything under £450 indirect, £500 direct.
Its far easier searching if you have approx dates to search for, try travelsupermarket.com & Kayak.co.uk
Post again once you set your dates & best price you can find, I will have a look around see if I can see anything cheaper.
