When to add DDP?

I have a room-only reservation for my son and I at the beginning of April. My son and I have APs. When I made the reservation, the CM told me that I could add the DDP up to 5 days before my arrival date. She said that if I added it now, it would be considered a package and need to be paid off at the 45 days, but if I leave the res RO and add the dining plan closer to the arrival date, that would be acceptable practice. Is all that accurate? I am in the running for a new job and don't want to commit to a package until I know the outcome of that situation and a possible start date for the job. Thanks for helping me make a good decision. :confused3

You can add the dining plan no later than 72 hours prior to check in. You would have to pay for it in full at that time, as well as your room balance since you would be creating a package (albeit a ticketless AP package).

New thought- Since the cancellation policy for room only is 5 days out, I believe, I would add it before then though because you will be cancelling that to create the package. Didn't think of that when I gave my first answer, which is the rule for packages.

No matter when you add it, it's going to be considered a package and you will have to pay it off right away.

They tell you 5 days because they will have to cancel your room-only reservation and rebook it as a package. If you cancel a room-only within 5 days of arrival (6 days if you booked it online) you lose the deposit. So you need to change your reservation at least 5 days before you arrive (6 days if you made it online).

Got it! I should know 2 weeks in advance of my trip if I get the job, or not. That gives me plenty of time to add do. Again, thanks!
