did anyone else think it would be like the jetsons?

I'm watching the jetsons movie now and I remember growing up, knowing I'd turn 16 in 2000 and thinking "oh man, we won't even have cars then...it'll be spaceships like the jetsons."

Or was it just me?

Not really, but when I was much younger, like 8 or 9, my brother who was 6 years older than me, used to tell me that when I was an adult it would be like the Jetsons!! LOL!!

Ohhh, oohhhhh! I have a story to tell!!!

On New Year's Eve, I was in Gatlinburg TN and my most beloved cat - Haze - decided to hide under the jacuzzi of our chalet. It ultimately ended with the jacuzzi being TORN out and the darn cat STILL refusing to come out (he went up into the interior of the house! ) and we had to rent a HOTEL at the LAST MINUTE in GATLINBURG TN on their most busiest day of the year!!!

After 5 hours, we finally found a roach motel with room. This is the night I discovered Sex and The City b/c they were having a marathon on HBO ( the only good thing about the roach trap....oh, I mean hotel). At about 11:30 all the power went out!!! I just knew it was due to 2000 computer glitches. It didn't come back on till 4 am. LOL - it was just due to a downed tree - no 2000 computer horror stories.....

I remember my uncle stocked up on campbell soup to keep in his basement b/c he thought the world was going to end.

And I agree...Sex and the city definitely helps to balance out the roach-fest motel.

And at the cat.

It is good for you your 23. I just thought you were a middle age man. Don't mind me I thought everyone was a woman for years. I finally started a thread & asked all the men to check in. It turned into a Tag Fest.

Not really. I thought I would've been married and planning my family in 2000 when I was younger, since I would've been turning 27 that year. Reality was that I was getting married in 2000 and family plans are still on hold.

As for society and progress, I never gave it much thought and things really took off with the digital revolution anyway.

Yeah I've been asked by a few posters if I was around 40. And I hear ya about the gender thing....I can never get a poster's sex right unless it has "WDWmom" or something like that. Hey, at least you knew I was a guy. And sometimes I think I am middle aged.
