When Teppanyaki (Japan) reopens does anyone know if it will still be similar-hibachi style tables? I read somewhere that it will be more sushi but I am hoping they will still have the big tables with the chefs preparing food in front of you. We are hoping to return for our New Year's trip!

They are expanding the size of the restaurant. Due to the fact that teppanyaki style restaurants with attached sushi bars are popping like mushrooms around here, I imagine the expanded restaurant will have a vastly expanded teppanyaki area along with a sushi bar portion.

I'm in agreement with the above.

I believe the Japanese word Teppanyaki actually translates to 'grilled on a skillet'. As long as they keep the name of the place as Teppanyaki, I'm pretty sure they are going to continue to offer teppan style cooking.

Check the Disney web site but I think it re-opens around Aug 20th. I have an ADR for 9-1-07. So I knows its open by then. By the way we loved it when we ate there on our trip in 2003.

In addition to being the restaurant name, "Teppanyaki" is a Japanese word that refers to the style of cooking, so I would assume that if they were eliminating the grill tables it would involve a name change. It wouldn't make sense to have Teppanyaki without teppanyaki tables. :)
