when staying BCV for F&W...

We have stayed BCV 3 years in a row just catching the last weekend of F&W, where we end up in a huge crowd for a few hours and that's it. This year we are going earlier, 11/3-11/9. So we'll have some weekdays to commit.

This is very much a last minute trip. I am looking at some dining reservations, but our plan is to basically go to MK once, AK once and the rest of the days we are just going to stay at BCV and swim, or go over to Epcot to peruse. Since we've never done this, do people tend to stay away from dining reservations b/c you're "grazing" all day? We usually go out for dinner every night, so I'm running into a bit of an issue for the 2-3 days we're going to be at Epcot. Is it that much eating?

Part of the reason we are making this trip is b/c we have wanted for years to spend a few days at F&W, not just the last day!

Any suggestions for an special events going on that week?

Also, any suggestions for 1BR requests at BCV? We have stayed 2 BR's the last few years, we have 3 kids including a 5 month old so we'd like to be ground floor and close to the lobby! Can you request that? Or is it better to request an actual room by #?

When we went last year to F&W we enjoyed having dinner (not lunch) reservations. The weather was good so we ate all day (slowly)...but it gets tiring eating without sitting down.

At the end of the day, it was always nice to sit and relax at a "real" dinner. That said, we were lucky because the restaurants we happened to go to served great meals and we weren't disappointed by the dinners. That was my major concern---that F&W would be so great I'd be annoyed by lackluster dining after snacking all day.

FWIW, we had dinners at Narcoossee's, Kouzzina (which we surprisingly really really liked) and Akershsus (for my DD...the only thing edible here was the Fish of the Day & the cold bar). I think we even squeezed in a super late lunch (2:30) at Le Cellier.

Our problem is somewhat compounded by the fact that we have small kids. While the wife and I might be ok with just eating as we go, the kids might not be thrilled with the choices.

I think we'll probably make a reservation for one day, leave the others open, we can always grab a slice of pizza if all else fails!

Is Hurricane Hannah's still closed?

Yes, we were by there this morning, it's still closed.

Thanks. Any signage indicating a reopen? What are people doing for drinks or lunch by the pool? Anything else of note going on around BCV?

Thanks!

We were just at f&w for the first time this week. While I loved the different choices and my 2 year old would munch on whatever I was eating (he'll try anything but oddly not le fou's brew at gaston's tavern in the new fantasy land. Delicous by the way.) My 6 year old was not a fan of anything but the frozen chocolate nesquick at the desert stand. We grabbed her a pretzel on our way into the countries.

Another thing to consider is that it is really hard to push a stroller and eat while trying to manuver through crowds. We always found a bench close by and sat to munch but we were there early just as the kiosks were opening. When we went back the next day at night it was much more crowded and you knew you were getting closer to another kiosk because it would get more congested.

I know that Hurricane Hannahs is closed until December and they are selling food at the marketplace but did you see anything as to where you could get a drink (one with alcohol in it - not soda)!

The pool bar is still open and they have a sort of hot dog stand type thing where you can get some things to eat.

To the OP, we were just at BCV and had a one bedroom on the 3rd floor, unit 372, and it had a nice view of the canal and quiet pool. If you looked hard right you could see a bit of the parking lot, so we never looked hard right. :thumbsup2

We begin and end our day at the F & W Festival and never make an ADR. The only days we did were on our "off" days where we didn't go to the parks. Then only Raglan Road and Boma for breakfast.

Have a great time! :goodvibes

Thanks. We definitely will try to go during less busy times (earlier in the day, not so much at night). My wife is thinking that we might be able to pull off lunch while walking around, but not dinner. I tend to agree.

I have to say, we are never really too worried about where we end up at BCV. It's one of the perks of the building being so relatively small. We actually like being on the ground floor, last year we had a 2BR that was at the end of the hall directly adjacent to the parking lot. We loved it. We had 3 "balconies", and the last one had no plants or foliage in front of it so we could walk right out the bedroom door and were just a few feet from the pool.
Thanks for the thoughts, we cant wait to get down there!
