When should you get W2's and 1099 forms?

I still haven't recieved my W2 from a part time job.

Is there a date that employers have to mail them by?

I think they are legally required to send them by January 31st.

They have to be mailed by 1/31.

They are correct they either have to be mailed or given to you by 1/31. We get ours with our end of the month paycheck on 1/31.

My husband received his W-2 with his check this week. We are still waiting on the 1099. I was told that they have until the 31st.

1099's are different from W-2's, unless the law has changed recently they used to have to FEBRUARY 28th to mail them.

I got one yesterday (I changed jobs mid-year) and I'll ge the other in inner office on Monday. So I'll should be able to start my taxes withing the next week.
