So when the wife and I get our DVC AP we try to get it so that we can get at least 2 trips on them ...eg- go one year the second week of Oct then go the last week of Sept the following year so basically 1 AP gets us through 2yrs of dis trips... we are set to renew this year when we are go in the last day of Sept through oct 4, how ever i can start booking FP+ in July and i don't want to get shut out on things for my daughter ( Anna & Elsa)....... I don't want to buy them early and mess with my system , but I also don't want the far out booking FP+ to ruin the trip because we didn't have them, any advice for this conundrum

Assuming you mean "buy my next" instead of renew, you can do it any time and use it before it is activated to book FP+.

For those looking in, you can now RENEW a current AP up to 60 days in advance of (and the regular 3 days after) the anniversary date.

.

It makes absolutely no sense for you to renew your AP because the time window would start ticking right away from the renewal and you would get no benefit out of it.

You would just buy your next set of vouchers before your 60 day FP+ window opens (assuming you are staying onsite, its 30 days if staying offsite) and then you can link them to your MDE account and make your selections. You just have to pick up the activated AP's then when you get to the parks the first day.

ok- dumb question here, but our APs expire Nov. 18th and we are arriving on Nov. 21st, so we plan to renew. How will this affect my FP+ booking? We are staying onsite, so I get to book at 60 days. Do I need to renew at 60 days and can I just add the voucher to my MDE account once received to get FP+?

You cannot let the AP expire or you will lose your FP+, so you need to get the voucher. You can book before you get the voucher, but be sure to tie the voucher to your MDE account before your AP expires.

I wouldn't renew so far in advance (therefore changing your travel plans and/or lose money) just to get the Anna and Elsa FP. After looking and looking I was able to get that FP after my 60 day window. You'd be better off just to stalk the page and you'll get something. Especially if you go in September when it's not as crowded.

Okay- so I can renew at my 60 day mark to make sure I have enough time to receive my voucher, make my FP+ reservations and once I receive my voucher I can link it to my account. Then I won't lose anything? Just once I arrive I will need to trade in the voucher, correct? Why do they let people renew 30 days after expiration then? So those people would lose their FP+? So in other words, if we waited to renew when we got there we would lose everything? YIKES!!!

Robo, did you mean 60 days in advance and 30 days after??

Correct - as long as you have a valid ticket linked to your MDE account, you are fine. I now have 3 valid tickets linked to my MDE account. An AP voucher counts as a valid ticket.

Yes, if you allowed that 2 day lapse, your FP+ reservations would have been lost.

Duh! I guess if we were going in Dec or Jan we could renew 30 days after and it might not affect our FP+ reservations. I answered my own question. Our time frame is so much shorter in between, so we would need to renew early.

Will the voucher override the current AP that are linked? Or will both show when I add them?

They will both show, but the FP+ reservations are not tied to a ticket - they are tied to the MDE account. The only requirement is that the MDE account also have a valid ticket associated for each day of FP+ reservations.

Yes. Sorry, my laptop has an intermittent zero key.

The "60-days before" is the new extra early renewal date to accommodate FP+ and
AP holders who have an expiring AP just before or during a scheduled WDW resort stay.
