I was thinking of going to Disneyland next year either end of September/beginning of October. I would love to see all the Halloween and Fall decor. Good idea? What it is like during this time?

If you're into Halloween it's defiantly a good time.
Here are a few threads active for this season.

MHP dates and info is announced the end of July. If you have your travel plans set, buy your tickets. Some dates will sell out faster than others.

If you want to stay on-site Disney might have special offers through the end of September. They did this year, the last day of the offer was Sept 28th.
The offers are generally on Sunday through Thursday nights and not for Fri or Sat.

If you plan to stay off-site, pick a place on Harbor and BOOK NOW. The earlier you book the better the nightly rate. You can look at rates now for 2017 and see the difference for 2018, if you book now. Many have a generous cancellation policy if your travel plans change.

My DGD-20 is a Halloween freak, so we love this time of the year.
Parks will be crowded due to the popularity of Halloween season and Disney's aggressive advertising campaign for the parks.

Follow the info for 2017 to help plan you 2018 Halloween trip.

The last couple of years, late September has been less crazy than most of October. I might go last week of September?

Agree with above, though, keep an eye on this year to get a sense of what *might* happen next year.
