When should I give the wedding gift?

I found out recently that my SIL is getting married next Saturday in a private ceremony at her home with a JP. She just got engaged the week before Christmas so I had no idea she would be getting married so quickly. (I'm still waiting for the news that's she's pg, but maybe I'm totally wrong there!)

I'm wondering when to give them their wedding "gift"(card w/$) as I believe they're still planning on a somewhat small reception on March 20th. The family is getting together the evening of her wedding, though, at my MIL's.

Should I give them their gift their wedding day? Or wait until the official reception in March?

I would mail it now, or take it with you to the family gathering (assuming you are going) the evening of the wedding.
