When should I get my Magical Express package?

And what exactly will they be sending me??? We leave May 5th and I haven't received anything yet.

How exactly does it work when we arrive at Orlando Airport? Where do we go/what do we do? Do we pick up our luggage or do they do that for us??

I'm a little nervous doing this on May 5th, the day it starts (although I've heard they are doing it in some resorts already).

We are flying Southwest and staying at the POFQ if that matters.

Well, just consider yourself a pioneer!!! Everything I've read tells me that they should send out your info pkg about 2-3 weeks before you fly out. So, maybe in two weeks or so. Don't forget to let us all know what your pkg tells you.

I thought Southwest was not participating in the Magical Express program. :confused3 Did you give your flight information to the CM when you made your reservation?

It does not matter what airline you are arriving in Orlando on, DME will get your luggage behind the scenes at MCO and send them to your resort. When going back home, if you are on a 'non-participating' airline, you will need to take your bags yourself, and check them once you get to MCO.

To the OP--I would give a call to CRO/WDWTC and see what they say about your package/luggage tags, etc. And you are a pioneer, I can't wait to hear your report about it

That is funny, I thought it was the exact opposite! :rotfl2:

Do you know where there is any good information on the program? I can't find much at the official site, DIS home or Deb's site. I know I read a detailed description months ago but I can't find it now. :confused3

Okay....the only part of DME that affects airline 'participation' is the return trip to MCO from your resort! If you are flying home on a 'participating' airline, as listed, you can check your baggage at your resort when you check-out. You will get your boarding pass from your resort. Then, when it is time to leave, you get on the bus, go to MCO and head for security. Your luggage has been taken care of back at your resort. If you are not using a 'participating' airline this is what will happen...you check out of your resort as usual. You can have the luggage service at your resort hold your luggage until it is time for you to leave. When you board the bus, you will have your luggage with you. You will go to the airport and check-in as usual...bags in hand.

This is the only difference between participating and non-participating airlines. It's a matter of being able to check in for your flight at your resort and have them transport your luggage to MCO via a special luggage transport.

You will be able to use DME for getting from MCO to your resort no matter what airline you are flying. Your special luggage tags, which will be sent to you, will 'flag' your luggage and the handlers will take it and put it on a special luggage transport truck headed to your resort...you don't see it from the time you depart from your home airport until you get to your resort. Again...anyone can use this service as long as you have made your reservation in advance!!! It's just the flight check-in at your resort that differs.

thanks for all the info!!! I knew our airline wasn't a "participating" one but didn't know exactly what that meant since they did still take all our flight info over the phone. Now I understand!!

Hopefully all my stuff will arrive in the next week or so, I can't believe we are only 29 days out. :cool1:

Whoa......

Peace to you. :flower2:

NJDisneymom, be sure to let us know how it goes. I didn't think we would ever use it because we always get a rental car but right now we think we will try it next month, too. :sunny:

I generally drive to Orlando - but I am flying this time - it is actually cheaper to fly....

with WDW picking you up at the airport - so no reason not too!

 Sorry, sometimes I get a little...

How often will these buses run from MCO and the resorts back to MCO? Do you have to allow extra time?

:grouphug: That's OK...I think many of us get a little  when it comes to WDW. I certainly do. :cheer2:

NJDisneymom I'm right there with ya! :wave2: We're arriving May 5th also and will be "ME Pioneers" . I'm kind of excited about it. This is our first time flying to DW so I was really happy to find out about this service. I was not looking forward to paying $100 to get to and from our resort.
I'm sure not all of the kinks will be worked out during the first weeks of opperation but I'm sure this service will meet all of the high standards Disney adhears to and we will not be dissapointed.
For now I'm anxiously waiting for that package to arrive!

BTW you will love POFQ it's a beautiful resort. :flower: Oh never mind, I see that you have already stayed there. So you know how beautiful it is. It's one of our favorites

OK--let me get this straight. If your flight home is late, you check out of your resort and leave your bags with the resort, then you return to your resort to catch the bus to MCO? About how many hours before your flight does Magic Express take you to the airport? Thanks for the info!
