When Ratatouille opens

Of course it is not essential but it is probably relative to many things too. I don't really think fast food restaurants are essential. I was just wondering if it is outside and or just a few people why not do little things with very few.

I don't think there will be an advantage. DCL will just hold the IG rope droppers before the bridge to Franche until the Future World guests arrive and merge.
I hope you're wrong on this. It would be nice for the IG to finally have an advantage. There have been enough times when we have been there, that the front gate opens before IG.

Like the other poster said, building an amusement park ride is not essential. People need to eat to live. "Fast food" is an opinion (and given that all food is takeout now, I'm not sure there's much of a distinction between "fast" and "slow" outside of the price/quality and delivery mechanism).

I am definitely not trying to debate anything. I raise my own pork, chicken, beef and have a garden. I have been living like there is a pandemic for a long time. I have worked in the food industry on many levels. I am now federal. If people think fast food essential that is fine. I just think essential is different to everyone. Eventually, everyone will be exposed to this virus. It is a good idea to boost up your immune system and get some sunshine daily.

Not entirely sure I understand your argument, but unless you believe all restaurants should be closed, what you are suggesting doesn't make much sense. The legal definition of a fast food restaurant is based on quick service and carryouts, which is how every open restaurant is currently operating. Fortunately no state declaration is suggesting or debating that all restaurants are not essential and should be closed.

Just to be clear: Disney halted all construction. But, Disney did not halt construction because it's non-essential; they halted it because of funding. In Florida, construction is considered "essential" and exempt from work stoppage and shelter at home. Other companies are doing construction work around the Disney property (see this artice for the construction being done by Ready Creek Improvement District, the Swolphin, etc.: https://blogmickey.com/2020/04/what-construction-projects-are-still-happening-at-walt-disney-world/

Once Disney figures out reopening, and can have a stream of income, the projects that are far along will continue construction, including Ratatouille.

thanks for this information. Construction crews are still working all over in our state and considered essential, so we thought disney would probably be jumping on this opportunity to do work without worrying about timing and guests.
I thought the painting of the castle would be complete!

Was it announced whether there would be FP+ for this ride when it opens?
If so, I would think it fair to assume it will be Tier 1. What do people think: would adding this to the slate of Tier 1 attractions cause any shift to the other FP tier designations at EPCOT?

I think HS is a good precedent. There, Tier 1 rides were moved over into Tier 2 to make room for two new rides (MFSR and MMRR). It's totally guesswork at this point, but I could see character greeting, soarin, and the fireworks getting bumped down to tier 2, leaving Test Track, Rat, and FEA in Tier 1.

I was thinking along those same lines & it sure seems like it would have FP+. I'll be curious to see how long before it opens (once Epcot opens!) - guess it depends on how much was left to do. I know there are some other changes also happening in France (new crepe place, something else? I can't remember anything anymore). Wonder whether they need/want them all to open at once, or if they can open as they are ready. Will be interesting to watch. Bummer we will be missing it this year but if conditions are such that we are still able to make the trip I will be happy to wait.

This exactly. I would have bet on it before Covid 19, especially since I had thought all along MMRR and any new rides after RotR would have a virtual queues, and was proven wrong! Now, however, when parks reopen, there may be a change to virtual queues for the most popular attractions so that stand by lines don't get too long or crowded. The line opening day for MMRR, which I was in, was super crowded, snaking all the way to the Tower of Terror queue entrance. The CM's did an outstanding job of preventing line jumping and confusion over which way the line was moving. I just think if you don't have a FP for a popular ride, standby queue's would be hard to socially distance because of the length. 7DMT could go to Splash Mountain!

Our family of 7 was there in mid Feb...BWV.....the IG area has certainly changed/expanded...some went into Epcot as for us the last day 3 of us took the Skyline over to RR to check it out and had lunch there...

It was to try to save money while they don't have much money coming in. Universal and other places took a different approach and kept on working. It's unfortunate but is what it is. I do believe that this particular attraction was mostly done if not completely done before the shutdown so they wouldn't have people there doing construction anyway.

Following for any updates. We go in mid-Sept. Was looking forward to it being open but if not.... next time!

It was not. It would *shock* me if this didn’t open with Boarding Groups given the current situation. When it does go to FP+ I imagine Soarin will move to Tier 2.

With reduced hours most likely and Epcot not being open right away, I can see them making up 2 months fairly quickly construction wise. Just depends on what kind of man power they actually wanna put there and what restrictions

There has been no information from Disney regarding opening or which parks will open. There is no reason to believe EPCOT will not be open.
Yes, the best sourced people on the inter webs say it has not been decided what order the parks will open in, or if they will open all at once or not.
