When month of the year would recommend visiting wdw?

hi everyone

I am sure this a very commonly asked question. I am planning a trip to wdw from the UK next year. We plan on staying for 2 weeks. I am traveling with another adult so we don't need to worry about school holidays or anything like that. I have been to wdw twice the first time in July when it was very very warm and really busy and wouldn't go back then if I can help it. The most recent time I went was The end of April. The parks were not nearly as busy and the temperature was more comfortable. The trip is for a special birthday. I turn 40 in June so ideally want to go around my birthday or later in the year. I am not going especially to experience any themed parties like Christmas or Halloween or anything I just want to go and spend time in the parks but preferably when the parks are not so busy. I want to try and avoid school holidays with the theory the parks will not be as busy. Schools in UK have a holiday in the middle to end of October and I think the USA schools do something similar. I was thinking on that basis that perhaps we leave the UK around the 25 or 26 September we would avoid all the holidays. What is weather like around that time of year? Is it still very humid? Are the parks less crowded around this time?

Thank you in advance for any tips. I only just (last night) convinced my travel buddy yesterday that we should go to Florida and I am so excited at the thought. I am a massive Disney theme park fan. I love the dis and dis podcast. I am so so happy at the idea of another Disney trip. (I guess many of you will understand)

Hi Claire!

The end of September is still pretty warm and rainy but a trip then would coincide nicely with F&W and Dapper Day.

If you'd prefer more temperate weather then I would look towards the end of November (after Thanksgiving)/first few weeks of December which are also very quiet times to go.

I would check out some historical crowd calenders online to see what sort of crowds would be willing to put up with for cooler weather

Hi Godders,

Thank you for your advice. I will definitely check the historical crowd attendance that's a brilliant idea. Thank you. We have family visiting for New Zealand at the start of December 2016 or I would definitely look at going then. Would be amazing to see the park in December. I would love to go in January one year but again due to family visiting that's not going to work this time! so many factors to consider. f & W would be good to experience. Dapper day sounds fun also! Planning these holidays are so complicated. Lol

Thanks again

September is really hot and humid but the weather changes in October - it gets a little better with less humidity. I would recommend the winter months - far more enjoyable but avoid Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

The first two weeks in February are is my favorite time. Low crowds, nice weather (usually), no special events and all the kids are still in school.

With your restrictions, you might reconsider the timing. You can go in late April/early May and get lower crowds and better weather. Celebrate your birthday early. If you go at the end of September, the weather is far more likely to be hot and humid than not.

Good luck with the planning.

We went in March last year and the weather was fabulous. Crowds were very manageable as well. We have been in early December and it was awesome to see all of the christmas decorations, even if it was pretty cold.
Trying October this year and I can't wait for all of the Halloween goodies!
Went in April and it was nice, but warmer than I thought it would be.

Awesome chart. I would suggest too mid-January (after Martin Luther King) through early February (before President's Day), mid-April (after Easter/Spring Break) through early May, and first two weeks of December, if you want low crowds, low heat, and good prices.

We went one year during the Food & Wine Festival, we had a fantastic time at Epcot. The weather and cost were great, but the crowds tended to spike a little on the weekends and during MNSSHP days. For two adults, if you like to try different foods and "beverages" this might be a good time to visit.

This year Food & Wine ran from September 25 - November 16, 2015

Concerning cost: Free Dining is typically not available during most of October but may be for the end of September, room discounts are usually offered throughout the fall.

We love the week after Thanksgiving and the last week in January. In November you'll get tossed all the Christmas decorations and the weather is fantastic. January does have the possibility of being cool, but we've been 4 times that week and it's always been hot enough to swim.

Early December. Reasonable crowds, cooler weather (but not too cold), all the Holiday stuff is out.

We love the week after Thanksgiving...In November you'll get tossed all the Christmas decorations and the weather is fantastic...

i also love the week after thanksgiving and the first full week of december in 2016 for (probably) good weather and the decorations (both in the parks and deluxe resorts - along with limited time offerings like the osborne lights (assuming they are still there)) and other holiday specials (candlelight processional and epcot storytellers). but that period has been cold enough on occasion to need sweaters and coats.

so i would have to concede that nov 5 through 19, 2016 will (probably) have nicer weather (more likely to be warm enough for swimming) than early december AND will include the end of the epcot food and wine festival (which is a lot of fun for adults, if you like different types of food), as well as seeing some of the park holiday decorations. crowds will also be pretty low - especially for the week before thanksgiving. i think my vote would have to go to this period for you...

The best two times to visit in my opinion are anytime in February (other than President's Day weekend) or early December.

The lowest crowds will be February and the weather is usually nice. There is a chance of a cold spell going through but cold is relative to Florida.

If you want to see the Christmas decorations and avoid the crowds the first and second week of December will be your best bet.

I have a friend who owns DVC and she goes several times a year. Her favorite is May.

mid-may starts to get hot (this year it was miserable in my opinion) but late april-early may is a great option for low crowds and also includes the epcot flower and garden festival -which is very worthwhile. so if you don't mind going before your birthday, that is also a great option...

It's such a personal question. I'll take a few more people in exchange for warmer weather and longer hours.

We have kids in school and that will continue for another five years. We usually go in the summer, early to mid June is our normal time. That time is a bit too hot for me, but we survive with midday breaks. My believed preference is for April to early May with an eye toward Easter or mid October to early November.

I agree with pp end April beginning of May. I need to associate WDW with warm weather. In the winter starting in Nov it just is up in the air as to what the weather will be. Nothing like seeing palm trees and and wearing gloves. Not my favorite lol
