When it's time to renew your APs...............

........I've a few questions about this, actually.





I haven't gone down the route of sponsoring anyone so I have no free year to come. I did read earlier this year that people were being offered incentives to renew their AP, like getting 18 months instead of 12. Is that sort of thing common? If so, do they write to you with the offer, or do you just find out when you go to renew?

How far in advance can you renew? Should I do it next week, even though they don't expire until October? Otherwise they will run out before I get there next time and I won't be able to go any offers on hotel rooms.


Any wise owls out there know the answers?

Normally renewal is within 1 month of expiry. But if you explain to the AP bureau they may let you renew early.
DP and the troops were emailed and posted about extra 6 months if they renewed. We took this letter with us but understandably it could not be combined with other offers

We were sent a letter a few weeks before they were due to run out offering the 18mths for 12.

Whilst we were there we decided not to bother renewing as we thought we may only do one trip next yr and so probably wasnt worth it but now we've been visited by the virus and are still trying to get rid of it before it attacks completely.

Im not sure if you could renew whilst there this time or not as it may be too far in advance however that may mean you have to book another quick trip there before they run out - virus alert

LOL - the problem I have is that our October half term is one week later this year so there is no way I can make a trip out there before our APs expire.

You can still get room only prices, with whichever AP you will renew. You just tell them you will be renewing your AP, and the CM will inform you you will have to present your new AP at check-in, otherwise you will be charged the full room-only rate.

ie our next trip is 6th October. My current Dream AP runs out 2nd October. I will be renewing by post in September, so by the 6th October I'll have my new Dream AP. I booked my room a few weeks ago, and got the AP discount, but the CM did tell me I'd have to show my new AP at check-in.

I don't know if I actually will have to though, as I've not had to do that on any previous room-only AP booking.

I believe, if you get the special offer of 18 months for the price of 12, and you decide to do that, you can actually renew that by phone - someone on another forum has just done that.
