Hi everyone, I just wondered when you're having your April Easter Holidays, and if you know the dates fr surrrounding countries?
My son gets the 12th-20th off, I did a search and it semed like some shcools are off early April thhis year.
TIA!!:)

Hampshire is from 4th April, for 2 weeks, which was an inconvenience for us as our APs were due to expire on the 6th, and there was guarantee we would get our 3 people to sponsor when I wanted to book for our next trip, so we are going at Easter, which is the 21st March (DD can't take time off school this year).

Ironically we now have our people, so could have gone during the Easter holiday, with hindsight

Schools here in Nottingham are off for Easter for 2 weeks from 17th March to 30th March.

I see, so we might benefit from less crowds if we went during his break?

Anyone been in April before, how is it for crowds and weather?

Thanks for your replies!

Most schools in the Birmingham area are off from the 20th March for just over 2 weeks. They actually finish the Thursday before Good Friday. Easter is so early this year that the holidays could be at any time during March or the beginning of April.

We were there at the beginning of April last year, it was Easter so naturally it was very busy, but the weather was fantastic!

Northants break up on the 4th April for 2 weeks, then get a long weekend over Easter itself.
We are heading to DLP on the 7th April. We have been for Easter before and didn't find it that busy.

There's links to most school holidays in The Very useful Info sticky. :goodvibes

Easter will be in March this year. It's on March 23rd! So it must be spring
vacation for England. So I'm guessing April will be quieter than in March, if
you don't go when it's spring vacation.

Jazzman thats not necessarily the case - as you can see from the posts already on this thread, a lot of schools will be taking their Easter break in April regardless of when Easter actually is.

East of Scotland schools are also taking 1st week in April for their Easter holidays.

A lot of UK education authorities have changed the Easter holiday for a standard two week break for the same dates in April every year ~ this doesn't always coincide with Easter as in this year when it's early. Hence Easter at DLRP may not be so busy this year as others! ;)

That would be good since we are there then, schools are still closed over the Easter weekend, but do you think people will wait to go away when the schools have their Easter break?

Speaking for myself, I wouldn't go for Easter weekend, as I'd expect that to be the busiest time. I'd wait until the April holidays if our school had them, or if I were going during our school holidays, the last week, midweek (ie just after Easter Monday).

DD finishes on 14th March and goes back on 31st - the traditional holiday with one week before Easter and one week after.
We are going to France for 2 wks but not going to DLP until 2nd week (Tuesday 25th - day after Easter Monday).
We have been for the last 2 Easters and found it quite busy but we are really hoping that it is quieter this year as not all schools are on holiday. I dont think any French schools are on holiday at this time.
However the weather may not be as good as last yr or the yr before as obviously it is so much earlier.
The park also closes earlier than we have ever had before- again an indication that they dont expect it to be as busy.

The schools where my mum & sister work have the long weekend over Easter off then the 1st 2 weeks in April off.

We went out on Easter Monday last year & I have never seen it so busy before.

this is great news, i think!
I guess because the UKs holidays are so varied in their timing this year, DLP won't be as busy on any given day than in other years right at this time of year if that makes sense, cos the holidays are staggered.....?
but just can't find a reasonably priced eurostar ticket! :headache:
