When is the xmas crowds gone?

Approximately when does the xmas crowd leave. Was wondering about Dec 29th and on, and anytime after that.

This is not first hand experience - we are going down for our first NY trip this year. But having posted this question several times (and on other boards, as well), the consensus seems to be January 2nd.

I thought with NY on a Thursday the crowds would stay through the weekend, but people who have been there on NY before say that doesn't seem to matter. The WDW resort rates go WAY DOWN on January 2 and that seems to back this up.

I am hoping they are correct, because we don't leave until the 6th. But I am preparing myself for crowds through Saturday at least.

I, too, am hoping for reduced crowds on the first Sat. or Sun. in January!

Just a note to Christmas travellers. I brought my kids one year the week after Christmas and it was the most crowded time I have ever been to at DW. We have season passes now, and our block-out dates are the week of and the week after Christmas because it is so busy.

If your asking about the least crowded time to go after the christmas holiday, don't forget about new years. I would go the first week after new years, by then the park should be cleared out. If you wait until the second week of January, all of the schools should be back in session, and the crowds will be really thin.
