When is the best time to go? OCT?

We are thinking of planning a trip to Disney it will be the first time for our kids, 2, and 4 at the time we go. DH and I have been many times but not since having kids. We think it will be great for them. We would like to go in early OCT but not sure how the crowds are. I know in Dec is great, but that is a little too close to x-mas for us.

Hello there. I am not someone who travels to Disney as often as I would like but I am a research nut when it comes to planning and everything I have ever read says pretty much the same thing. Octocber is one, of if not the best time, to go. The weather is awsome, the rates are low and the crowds are low as well.
For your first trip with the kiddies you couldn't pick a better time.

I agree have been several times during the second week. Crowds were very agreeable and we did everything we wanted.

I have to agree as well - it's a fantastic time to go - particularly to avoid the lines at the parks.

YOu might want to avoid Columbus Day if you can... other than that, should be fine.

I have been in Oct & it was great. The only busy part was Mickeys Halloween Party but it was worth it. I also like the beginning of May because of the low crowds & Flower show at Epcot.
