When is the absolute LEAST CROWDED Time at Disney ???

We went last week in Oct 04 and almost every ride was a walk on, and never more than a 20 minute wait!

Just by our trip experiences, we've been 1st of May, mid Sept, early Oct, mid Feb, and early Jan. and January is the best!!!! In Feb, you have the mardi gras crowds(I'm one of them too). All the other times we're not bad but we walked right onto rides in Jan.

Our first trip was last September and the crowds were l-o-w! I have video of us walking off of IASW and we are the only people in sight. Granted, I have only been there once and I have nothing to compare my trip to, but after reading some TR and seeing posts, we will always go in September, at least as long as DS is not in school. Even after he starts school, we may take him out for a Disney trip.

I did go once in March years ago and hated it (boo hiss, I know). But that was before I knew what it was all about and long before FP.

We are going in two weeks and I cannot wait!

Probably another guage to use is to look at the prices. The prices for the resorts probably will be higher at peak times and low at the times when there are the least crowds. Also early Nov is probably safe, all of Dec is probably going to be one of the more crowded months. Right now until Mid Oct should be light. I am guessing after the holidays Jan-Feb would be light too, but never been at that time. It probably starts to pick up again in March and then on through the summer. April may be slightly lighter but not sure on that.

We like to go in April or May. The only long lines we usually encounter are in Fantasy Land and Splash Mtn. at MK. There are a few at other parks, like the Safari, and I'm sure EE and Soarin now, but with FP it is really easy to do everything you want. Sometimes crowds appear before Spectro and sometimes during EMH, but we have always had a blast.

I find, though, that I tend to forget the crowds and only remember the good stuff once I am home. It only takes a few weeks to rest up before I am wanting to go again. Same for DH. When we returned this year he said he was done with Disney for a few years. Less than a month later he was wishing he was back, eating dinner at the Biergarten :rotfl:

Oh no no no!!!!! I picked the 2nd week of Dec. to stay away from the crowds! I can't be in crowds or I'll panic. Don't tell me its crowded now. That would just ruin my vacation!!

Going the first week in December. Getting a headache thinking about it. Don't care to see Regis & Kelly parade up and down Main Street for 3 days and Pop Warner kids during the week. Should have realized it was going to be crowded when the rooms began to fill up so soon.

Oh, why or why didn't I discover the DIS sooner????

I've been in the 2nd week of February, spring break, 1st week of May, and 2nd week of Nov.

Crowds from least to worst
2nd week of Feb. (by far)
1st week of May
2nd week of Nov (still not what I would call crowded)
spring break (horrific, and before FP even!)

We're heading there in 10 days and hoping for our lowest crowds yet.

Our trip the first week of February was least crowded. Only other people in the parks seemed to be cheerleaders and Brazilians.

After the Xmas parade and before the weekend before Xmas wasn't bad at all. Those two weekends before and after were pretty crowded though.

Mickeysgirl17 --- According to the UG website that week should be great crowd-wise. Those middle December weeks were what I was wondering about originally because I've heard it both ways. This is what the website says:

Thu, 07 Dec '06 5
Fri, 08 Dec '06 5
Sat, 09 Dec '06 6
Sun, 10 Dec '06 4
Mon, 11 Dec '06 4
Tue, 12 Dec '06 4
Wed, 13 Dec '06 4
Thu, 14 Dec '06 4
Fri, 15 Dec '06 4
Sat, 16 Dec '06 5
Sun, 17 Dec '06 6
Mon, 18 Dec '06 5
Tue, 19 Dec '06 5
Wed, 20 Dec '06 7

4s and 5s are the lowest on any dates on the chart - so theoretically you should be there at a good time ( assuming that this website is accurate, that is! ) At any rate - have a Great Trip!!!! :)

I've said this before and I'm sticking by it. There are 2 seasons at WDW, busy season and very busy season. JMO

And the corollary to that is, the lowest crowds are always the week before you arrive for your vacation; "Boy, you should have seen it last week..." :teeth:

We've been the second week of December in 2001 and 2005. 2001 was a ghost town. Seriously. It was extremely uncrowded. Probably because of 9/11 but that's what we were expecting when we went in 2005. It was so much more crowded in 2005. MVMCP was swarmed with people (went on a Tuesday) and it seemed to get more and more crowded every day. And it was very cold (as opposed to 2001 it was 70-80's all week). We're trying the week after Thanksgiving this year hoping that will be less crowded than the second week of December. But I have a feeling with every year that goes by having an "off" season is getting pretty scarce. But it's better than July!

Hi,

I am a member of TourGuide Mike and I really like all his information. I am going in December so I can't from personal experience if his stuff really works. There are lots of people who say thay never wait long on lines when they follow his advice.

I did follow his "theories" when I went to Disneyland in May and I NEVER waited for any ride. We walked right on Splash Mountain one day and later that day I saw the wait was over 75 minutes. We waited about 5 minutes to see Mickey in ToonTown because I went when TGM said to go at WDW. Later that day we ran into some people who waited 45 minutes.

So if you are really worried about crowds, try him. Oh- and by the way- he has a scale in which he rates the crowd levels at each park for each day. For example, based on his research, he might say that today is a "green" day for MK (which means go), a "yellow" day for EPCOT (which means go to that park with cautions) and "red" for AK (don't go unless you have absolutely no other choice). And he gives you the reasons why he rates each park the way he does.

I planned my day so I am at the parks on his "green" days. basically, I am going where others are less likely to go. I just HATE crowds.

So......just my ever-so-humble opinion.

Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes
