I don't know about making the plane, but you better pray for sunshine. We just got back Saturday (01/15/05) and I had booked the Rookie Experience for Friday for my son as a surprise. The sun was shining all week, but unfortuantely it was raining Friday morning. When we arrived we were told the RPDE had been cancelled and that it was nonrefundable. I had booked it only a week before we left and the woman I had spoken with had told me we may not get the waiver forms in time, which we didn't. I called the day before we left to verify time and date and during neither call was I told it was nonrefundable. I posted this on another site and was told that in the papers they send you, that the nonrefundable policy is discussed and usually the person tells you when you book it that it is nonrefundable.. Apparently it depends on who you talk to and how busy they are, because several people of the dozen or so in the room with us had also not been told. If we had not been leaving the next day we could have rescheduled. I'm taking my younger son (23y/o) in Sept and asked to have it transferred to him, but was told since it was in my elder son's name he had to be the one to use it (even though I used my credit card and was the one who booked it using my AP discount). They finally said they would issue a rain out letter and he could do it at the Texas Motor Speedway in Dallas within the next year, but would have to pay the difference since the local speedways will not accept the AP discount we had used. I didn't think this was fair since I had booked through their main office in N Carolina using the AP and per their records am marked paid in full, but she made a point of asking if any of us had used a discount. It worked out for us, but if you didn't have a RPDE near you and were leaving before they could get you rescheduled you just lost your money. There was one man who was really upset because he had booked the 'experience of a lifetime'? ($1300.00), apparently was leaving the next day and didn't have a RPDE near him. I got the impression they may be rained out alot, because the woman talking to us, started out with a defensive attitude like she was expecting us to give her a hard time.
