When is opening for new norway?

there was a frenzy when the Frozen sisters debuted at Epcot because the previous Norway did not have the infrastructure to handle the demand (and the extent of that demand was not anticipated). So they are getting a new building that will have the necessary infrastructure.

Pretty sure the sisters will leave MK when their new building is ready.

Soarin' is shooting for June, but you never know with construction.

FPs for new attractions don't usually open until the actual attraction opens. They don't usually announce and opening date and then open the FP window 60 days before that in case there is a delay or something like that. Heck we might not even know the opening date 60 days before it opens.

This is what I have been wondering. We will be there in June and are staying offsite. With only being able to book fp 30 days in advance, I knew there was no hope. If they don't release fp until it is actually open then I might actually have a shot at it.

i'm glad this will happen long after I'm there. I don't want to have to fight my way through hoards of Frozen fanatics trying to get to the bakery. They might devour all of the School Bread before I get to try any! The horror!!

I had great hope that when they closed the Seven Dwarfs Mine Shop on the corner across from the Mine Train and next to FTH, they would convert it to a Snow White M&G where she would always have a dwarf or two with her. That would have been awesome.

This would have been AMAZING.

Our first day there is May 22nd..I'm almost hoping it doesn't open until we leave. Just feel like it might create some chaos in Epcot.

We're in the exact same situation! EPCOT is our favorite park and I don't think it'll mesh well with the heat. We're there May 23-28, so just in time for the Memorial Day people to flock in and ride it.

I'll wait until December.

I wouldn't expect an opening date until slightly before 60 days before it opens (simply for Fast Pass reasons).

This is the odd downside to Fast Pass+ ... I feel (based on the old ride's capactiy and popularity of Frozen) that this ride will have huge lines and thus be HIGHLY sought after and be one of those that you can't get a FP for even at 60 days.
There is no way they don't make this a Tier 1 ride at Epcot.

The summer will be pretty crazy with this ride opening AND the night show at AK. That will definitely take the "heat" (pun intended) off crowds at MK a bit one would think.

I agree that they both may be Tier 1, but do you think that Soarin' and Test Track will also remain Tier 1 as well? I'm also wondering if the new Soarin' will open up more or less the same time to help spread the crowds throughout the park, or if there will be more of a phased opening of Norway and then Soarin' to follow several weeks later?

I would personally hope for them all to open at the same time in May, but only because we will be there May 22-30. So many maybes for this trip: AK nighttime show and safari, possible 24 hour day if not on leap day, Epcot up in the air. It makes planning ADRs and FPs frustrating!

If expanded Soarin (19,000), test track (9500), frozen (7800) are all tier 1 that is just beginning to cover the daily attendance to give everybody 1 top pick. Epcot seems to be short 1 major attraction to being able to move test track to tier 2.

It would make sense to move illuminations to tier 2 and make some people who want it happy.

It seems counter intuitive to make A&E a tier 1. They really should just make it a hard ticket , dinner package, or treat it like Jedi Training.

I sure wouldn't wait in either the Frozen line or the AE standby line. I'm sure they will be awfully long.

Ooh! Sort of like a party within a party! We'll call it an "admission ticket within an admission ticket"!

An add on. Maybe they will do the same thing with the limited seating at the night Safari.

That would be like a jungle party.

Is there anyway this would eliminate the tier?

There are only about 9000 test track and less than that slots for maelstrom. Soarin will have about 18,000. So the first 9000 people would grab Frozen, test track, AE, and Soarin. Leaving 9,000 others with just soarin and the other minor rides.

Basically 18,000 people will eat up all the good ride slots. With a daily average attendance of over 35,000 Epcot would be leaving half of their customers empty handed. With tiers, 35000 people can get a tier 1 ride.

That is why I think they need to more large capacity high interest rides to remove tiers. It's a shame the universe of energy, wonders of life, and imagination facilities are not more substantial.

This entire thing just makes me so sad. Turning Epcot into Fantasyland. :(

*shrug* .. while I think many adults and hard core fans would miss World Showcase, you have to admit that is is pretty boring for most kids. (and some adults). A very long walk around the lake with two rides (if you count Mexico as a ride) .. a bunch of movies .. and an animatronic history lesson. How many showcase pavilions are just walked by because there is no attraction? Morocco, Italy, Japan.

I know I've skipped Epcot on my past two trips with a toddler because there really isn't much there besides Nemo for little kids, but plenty for them to do at DHS (even now) and AK. A new Frozen ride would definitely get me to consider going to Epcot on the next trip and even go into the World Showcase.

It's obvious the goal of a Frozen Norway to draw more families with young kids away from MK and help distribute the crowds If they "Disney-fied" more pavilions in the World Showcase and added a new attraction or two .. that would help even more.

I would not be surprised to see more added. Epcot has the space to implement and handle crowds. It needs the draw away from the others as they get updated. I imagine a new vision for Epcot down the road as Future World is SO SO outdated and there are Disney stories that can tie in to the countries. Disney will do what makes economic sense. And for all who complain. just as many will embrace it.

- Germany and Japan were to have a rides. The buildings are there.
- Plenty of plots for more countries.
- They could do Disney immersion as new country or attraction for neighboring country.
- Look at all the "cultural attractions" in the countries. NEVER a wait, always mostly empty. They are failing.
- To eliminate tiers, they will need to add attractions that guests actually want to do.
