I live in Australia where temperatures are always around 86f and can reach up to 113f it's mostly dry heat though which you feel less than the Florida humid heat. Additionally I'm someone who is generally always running cold

I have been to Disney World twice once from 20th of October till the 13th of November 2019 and once from the 28 of September till the 26 of October 2024.

The first time the weather was nice there were couple of days in which the temperature was hot enough to swim but by the end of the holiday I was wearing by puffer jacket. Second time around we decided to go earlier, but we met Hurricane Milton. The days before and after the hurricane were not hot enough to make you just want to jump in the pool straight away or swim at night. And being in the rain was cold and miserable.

I'm just trying to think at what it would be the best time to go for our next trip.

I want it to be HOT. I have read that July is hot but also very rainy which then makes it miserable and also I'm concerned that it's cold in the rain. Is there any other time of the year that would be best suited? I think around 87 89 would be a nice temperature.

We are also bound by school holidays so Easter holidays, January, July and September.

Thanks

Of those choices, July will be the hottest month. January will be cool to cold. Depending on when Easter falls, it will be moderate to cool. You are more likely to deal with a hurricane in September, since that is the peak of hurricane season.

In July, you will likely encounter an afternoon rain that lasts from a few minutes to maybe an hour or two. When it’s not raining, the temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s (F). When it rains, the temperatures may drop to the upper 80s, but quickly rebound when the sun returns. It will be humid, and after a rain it will be steamy as the sun evaporates the rain.

In Florida, you can’t have heat without the risk of rain.

If it being HOT is your main concern then June/July/August/First half of September are the hottest.
However they are also the rainiest so you have to decide which is more important.

Generally April has very nice warm to semi hot weather and not much in the way of rain but then you'll be going during a holiday. Plus its not HOT like you want it.

I enjoy going in August. Headed there in a couple weeks.

I am heat sensitive partially because I don't sweat enough. I have visited WDW in all months October through June and twice even in those months I found the temperatures almost unbearable! My late April trip was so hot I ended up renting an ECV just to continue getting around in the heat as well as canceling a couple ADRs just to go back to our room to cool off. This past late October I found the heat so oppressive that I greatly curtailed my plans most days even drinking water constantly. If I hadn't been attending my first and only MNSSHP and spent middays back in the room I wouldn't have survived.

I would never ever go in July, August or September and plan to stick to late November through February from now on. You cannot count on any month being tolerably cool except the heart of winter but it all depends on each person's tolerance for the heat.

I don't know Australian holidays, but we have been in April and May multiple times, and it rained once for 10 minutes and was in the 80's every day. April or May would be my pick for less rain with the most heat. Mid-June through September is rainy. March would probably be too cold for you.

We go in the summer. June is SLIGHTLY cooler than August, but I emphasize SLIGHTLY. You will have afternoon thunder storms every day but with the heat they are welcome. The big drawback to the storms is they close down the outdoor rides - biggest impact is on Everest and Test Track. We plan our day around riding those in the morning. Water parks pretty much shut down for the day once the storms roll in. Also note the NOAA hurricane site; mid-summer through fall (July through early November) is prime hurricane season. We have been there when a storm has brushed Cape Canaveral but no closer than that. The day after a storm has passed by is incredible - no humidity and cooler. Storms rarely hit WDW and they don't shut down long even when they do - but be aware.
FWIW - I live in Southern California, 20 miles from DL. We go to WDW for the bubble - you can't really get away from work etc. at DL, it's always a cell phone call away. We don't find the heat to be all that bad. Yes, if I had to live in it and get things done despite it that would be a problem. We are on vacation though - slow down a bit and enjoy, no big deal.

If I weren't bound by school holidays would there be another optimal time of the year?
June might be a little drier than July and nearly as hot. August can be questionable due to the possibility of hurricanes, very similar to September. But it’s the heat that helps create the rain, so if it’s hot, there will always be a chance of rain. That doesn’t mean it will rain all day, or in every location (sometimes it can be pouring at MK and miss Epcot completely), just that someplace in the area is going to have some rain. Most people just put on a poncho to stay dry and keep on going.

Easter holidays would be from the whole month of April whereas July holidays would be from the 25 June till the 20th July.

Would there still be much rain in that June/July period? We were in Disney World in the rain during Milton and I thought it was cold. Would this period be warmer in the rain?
What about April?

Thanks

July is a very rainy month.
Its much hotter than October.
April is what I'd consider pretty much perfect weather for going to theme parks.
About 82f and not that rainy.
But if you're looking for temps in the 90's and real feel of 110 then you want July/August but again it comes with rain.
You're gonna get HOT and RAIN or you're gonna get pleasant weather for theme parks but maybe what you'd consider too cold to swim...

Thank you for this. Are the evening colder in April? as in so you need a jacket to go around Disney springs?

I wouldn't say so but I guess it depends on you.
Average high is in the low 80's F and average low is in the low 60's F in April.
That's the average high and low where I live right now in the middle of July (although this year its been much hotter here)

I had a dilema kind of like yours. Our first ever trip with the kids was in July of l977 (years ago).
We lived in a very hot and humid climate in Tennessee, and the heat and humidity did not bother us at all. We saw people who were not used to it wilting in the heat and being miserable.

Since you are used to high temps, maybe you will be alright. The humidity is nothing to dismiss as it makes it miserable at times.

Now that we live in the extreme North, we burn up in warmer or hot weather, and avoid those months like the plague. :confused3 . I think you will be okay but will have to adjust to the humidity.

June is the wettest month in Orlando, and it's only 1 degree cooler than July on average (91 versus 92).

You may be correct in inches, but an average count of days with rain shows a slightly different result. This is specifically for the ZIP Code 32830, which is Disney:

There are more rainy days in July and August than in June, so the odds of a day with no rain are slightly better for a June trip. Of course, that doesn’t matter if you happen to visit on one of the days it is raining, and the overall difference is slight enough that personally, it wouldn’t make a difference to me. I just put it out there in case it made a difference to the OP.

Don't worry so much about the rain. Storms are usually quick and as I said before, are a welcome relief. Just about everything is indoors in WDW so you rarely get caught out in it so much that it wrecks your day. I HIGHLY recommend carrying an umbrella over counting on ponchos. The storms come and go so quickly that they are usually over or you can get indoors before you can deploy a poncho. Umbrellas are also useful for impromptu shade. Just remember to take the umbrella out of your bag before going through security.

Thank you for your replies. It's a very difficult decision. In July is there just one 20min shower and that's it or there are multiple showers throughout the afternoon?

What about crowds are they comparable?
Also noting that we come for two weeks and have fast passes for the whole stay usually .

Thanks

It could be one afternoon storm or it could be all day....
Schools start to go back in a lot of places in the end of July/beginning of August (not in my area they go back first Tuesday of September).
So July is going to be a bit more crowded than say August but its going to be much less crowded than say Easter...

Again you have to just decide which is most important HOT??? which comes with RAIN or very pleasant weather to walk around theme parks but you may consider it chilly to swim and you'll have to deal with holiday crowds if you're going during a holiday.

Just a question on crowds. Wouldn't Easter crowds only be around for the two weeks around Easter whereas the July crowds will be around for the whole month? We will be stay a month between Disney and Universal so just trying to take that into consideration as well.

Thanks
